Works as advertised. Amazing.
This is an amazing product for vacuuming dry stuff. It separates cyclonically and collects in the bucket. I just finished cutting sheet material from plywood. 8 sheets of plywood cut to make 30 drawers, on poplar runners and 3/4” carcas. Drawers are 4””-8” and cabinet is 6’x7’. From the cutting to size all of all of the 240 parts going into this project, I collected one 5 gallon bucket of sawdust to the top, and maybe a 5% filled dust bag in the shop vac. This is a huge money saver on dust bags for dry product waste.

Makes dust collection less of a hassle
The Dust Deputy is great. I bought it about 2 weeks ago and so far it works perfectly. For tools that create lots of sawdust like a table saw or wood planer, this is a great setup to use. After running the planer for about 30 minutes, the bucket filled up. I can’t imagine replacing the shop vac bag every 30 minutes. Of course you can use a vacuum filter and just keep emptying the vacuum drum, but then your filter will be clogged in no time. I actually waited too long to empty the dust deputy bucket the first time and the excess sawdust fell into the shop vac drum. So I just emptied the bucket, cleaned the vac drum, and made sure the filter was still clean. It’s probably a good idea to empty the bucket when it’s about half or 2/3 full. The deputy allows you to run the vacuum at optimal performance while not having to change a bag or a filter. At some point you’ll still need to change the filter because it will catch small particles over time, but I imagine that it will be a while before I need to do that. Installation was pretty easy. My shop vac drum is metal, but drilling 2 holes into the side wall was very easy. I highly recommend this product if you do a fair amount of woodworking. Although, I feel that it is priced too high. I think a more reasonable price range would be $70-75. Overall, it is a great investment.

Worked Well to Collect Concrete Grinding Dust
This worked well for me when grinding down a concrete floor. It collected a lot of the fine dust. The wheel bracket attachment method to the collection canister is poor. The kit comes with some double side sticky tape to secure the wheel brackets. The drawing showed a flat land area on the wheel bracket that wasn't there in my kit. This didn't look very secure and was going to be trouble in the future. The instructions also suggested attaching the wheel brackets with 1/4 inch nuts and bolts which were not supplied. The bolt holes were already there on the wheel brackets. I ended up drilling the canister and securing the wheel brackets with 1/4 x 1/2 inch nuts and bolts and plain washers. There are 3 bolts holes per wheel bracket. Now the wheels won't fall off. As others have mentioned, the hoses tend to pull off but can be secured with user supplied hose clamps. I didn't do this as I wasn't moving my setup around much and I needed to flush out the hose at the end of each concrete grinding session.

Don't waste time trying to make this – just buy it!
I'm a huge DIY type of guy and when I saw the price on most of these systems, I was absolutely not going to do it. Instead, I bought a couple of buckets and some plumbing parts and try to make my own following YouTube advice that they seem to have good success with. At the end of the day, I wasted all that time effort and money and I should've just bought this product. Absolutely works flawlessly and helps keep my shop vac (originally) and now dust collector as clean as a whistle. Could not be happier and would absolutely recommend to everyone. I love the design and the increased suction power because it keeps my filters clean. The product seems to be made durably. If I had one knock is that the maneuverability isn't great if you're attaching it to a shop vac but if you're using it with a dust collector, you will absolutely have no issues

I know, this is considered by many the best small cyclone separator out there... Hear me out
Yes it works. It looks cool. It works pretty well as long as you don't feed it dust too quickly, and yes, it is pretty much the standard in small cyclone separators. So why did I take off 2 stars (I considered only giving it 2 stars, I'm that disappointed, it works but just about nothing is right with it)? - This is supposed to be one of their more complete kits, just slap it together and use it. Instead you have to drill holes, figure out where you want to locate casters, mounting weirdness… It leads to flexibility in how you set things up, but I’m sure that it will lead to some people having some pretty hokey installs. I kind of believe that if it’s a fairly complete kit you should be able to finish it off with a screwdriver. You need wrenches, sockets, drill, drill bits, something to measure with, cut with… at a minimum. - If you really wanted to use the casters they probably should have supplied 4, rather than 3, and they should have considered predrilling holes, yea, not really a big deal unless you’re a bit anal retentive and want them evenly spaced. With 3 casters it’s tippy if you don’t strap it to something, and if you do strap it to something I don’t know that you would use the 3 casters. - The hardware is somewhat lacking- like there is only one washer per bolt, but they are being used to hold 2 plastic parts together, that need as much support as possible from both sides. - Plastic… arrgg… its soft and it does exactly what you expect it to do, the flange and the lid that you’re supposed to bolt it to are too flat/don’t have enough shape to them. They distort some no matter how careful you are bolting them together. Worse, set the thing up, connect a couple of hoses to it and it flexes over a few degrees under it’s own weight… the plastic construction is just not rigid enough on it’s own. This thing is not built like a durable piece of shop equipment. - The Hose/fittings- they supply a _really_ nice, thick hose with the kit, nicer than in the pics, and the fittings are decent quality, but why are all the fittings and all the hose ends (even the ones that are actually part of the hose) all significantly smaller than the hose ID? For that matter, all the fittings and hose ends are significantly smaller than my standard, craftsman shop vac. Without making an adaptor bushing of sorts, I don’t see any good way to use their hose with my shop vac, and all the step up and down are just restrictions hurting flow. I wouldn’t be surprised if ¼-1/3 of a larger vacuum’s power is wasted in the fitting size changes. It looks like the best solution is to use a second, generic shop vac hose from one of the hardware stores and ditch the one that they supply (or cut their ends off and use the ends tat come with the generic shop vac hose). Of course, that will cost you half the price of one of these things and I don’t understand why nothing is just sized to work with a standard size shop vac (my specific model is even shown in the instruction manual, again, not using the hose supplied with the kit.). Nice hose, but there’s no good way for me to use it. - Using a second bucket to hold the first seems like a decent idea till you really mess with it, it adds about 3” of unnecessary height, and it’s just awkward to use Would I buy it again? Definitely not the whole kit, I got a box full of parts that I can’t use half of, some of which I had to modify (drill…) to assemble and find out that they won’t work, so I don’t think I can realistically even try to return it if I wanted to. I think it’s weirder that just the cyclone, hose, lid and bucket cost $5 more. If I was going to get it I’d probably save $50 and get just the cyclone, assembling it to my own parts and buying a hose would be cheaper and less work than using the parts in the kit, even if I had to go out and buy a Homer or lowes bucket. For that matter, I wouldn’t use the bucket lid, I’d probably cut one out out of plywood or MDF which would be more rigid. I don’t know what to do with the hose fittings… they’re just the wrong size, the tapered fittings on this thing that is supposed to work with most ends just doesn’t work well, and I don’t understand why they didn’t just make it match the fittings on standard full size (2.5”) shop vac fittings/accessories. They’re standard enough that I can go to any hardware store, Sears… and buy accessories for a wet/dry or shop vac style vacuum and they all work. Why is this sized differently? Honestly, by the time I turn this into something that I'll consider acceptable for use in my shop (probably build a wooden frame to support it, some wort of mount for the vacuum, decide the right way to deal with the fittings, either reenforce the plastic lid and flange or just make a wood one, and if i do that I might just make a container to mount it to the top of rather than use the 5 gallon bucket...) I'll have replaced almost all the parts in the kit and have spent as much time as it would have taken to build my own.

Is one of the best pieces of kit, thankfully got this on a special deal, so paid no where near the £200+ being asked currently. Been using it with a Bosch GAS 30 on my house reno and the amount of dust it catches is unreal. Only the finest plaster dust gets into the filter bag. With Bosch bags being £7-8ea and being to empty so easily its definitely a welcome addition.

Pricy for what is essentially mostly a plastic bucket but works great. It traps the vast majority of the dust in the bucket (which is really easy to empty), I do recommend this product, it sets up in minutes and has been working flawlessly since I got it. (I plugged a small shopvac when using the saw bench and other misc tools, shop vac not needed if used with a Dewalt planner)

This will make your shop vac bulkier, but boy does it ever work well! You will save money on filters. You will be saving the messy job of cleaning and/or replacing shop vac filters, and you will save money by not having to buy a new shop vac every few years because drywall dust has destroyed the bearings. If you deal with fine dust, like abrasive drywall dust, this thing is a MUST HAVE. You will maintain full suction, and not have to screw around trying to knock the dust out of your shop vac filter which will quickly plug up if you don't have one of these. I've had one for 20 years and it is still going strong. I bought this one for my daughter and son-in-law. You will never regret buying this product even though it may cost a bit more that the competition.
