The first chapters give an introduction to the test with useful tips for the test date. The tasks are detailly described with explanations with answers are the correct ones and why. There are hints in recognizing the kind of questions and how to handle them. After explaining the different tasks there are plenty of exercises to work on. Additionally, there are several complete tests with answers in the second part of the book. I benefitted especially from the reading parts, but all other parts were super useful as well. I trained with this book for a few weeks and passed the test. I recommend using a timer while practicing. Great price and training, can highly recommend this book! Review: Excellent - Bought it to prepare for the TOEFL test, which I passed with flying colours, so can't say it didn't work :)

This book is really usefull, it contain everything you need to pass and score well in the toefl. It contain a CD rom with 4 previous test and a large number of exercice inside. The difficult parts to train is the writting because you don't have direct feedback on your result (I got 96/120 on my test with only 20 on the writting).

Update December 18, 2018: So, 10 days later... I got my exam results: 115 out of 120. As I studied without a tutor and had to prepare in one week, this book definitely helped a lot! I hope this can reinforce my recommendation. Despite that, there are a few things I would do differently, if I could turn back time. I would actively prepare for the speaking part and writing part, which I did not, and structure my ideas better and avoid complex wording. Should you consider doing the TOEFL exam, you will need to determine the best strategy to reach your desired score. Trust me, it will be the most important decision you can make with regard to this exam! So, do not mess it up. Since the TOEFL is a standardized test and, by the time of your application, you should already have a solid knowledge of the English language, invest your precious time wisely and focus on practising the TOEFL model. This does not diminish the importance of expanding your vocabulary and revising grammar rules as well as sentence structures. Yet you should prepare by doing and, if necessary, repeating the practice tests. Such approach will show you exactly what to expect on exam day while reducing some of the test-related anxiety you might have. I do really enjoy this book and am confident it is a wonderful tool for my TOEFL preparation. You will find some general information regarding the exam, such as the structure, kind of questions that might be asked, and requirements. Besides that, the book offers some valuable tips and strategies to prepare for the TOEFL exam. Most importantly, you will find a comprehensive practice chapter, comprising 4 practice tests. You can opt to do the practice tests on your computer or use the book instead. I highly recommend using the computer version, so that you further accustome yourself to the TOEFL format. For this, you will need the CD that is included in this product. Apart from the complete practice exams, this book offers a complete insight into each type of question of the TOEFL. There is a detailed explanation of every single kind of question, namely its meaning and what is required from the examinee. Before doing the practice tests, you also have the chance to test your knowledge on the individual exam categories. In this case, you get approximately 6 additional practice sets per exam group. Allow me to remind that the TOEFL exam is divided in 4 main groups - reading, listening, speaking and writing. And if you want to go the extra mile, there is so much more you can do: * The YouTube channels TOEFL Speaking Teacher, MagooshTOEFL and linguamarina have nice videos with great tips to prepare well for the exam. * I also recommend getting used to academic texts, so try to read as much as you can! Magazines such as The Economist, BBC or National Geographic are great sources, since the TOEFL reading comprehension is all about history, society, geography and biology. * For the listening part, you can use podcasts or even YouTube videos and just try to focus on what is being said. It is important to prepare to listen to casual conversations (context-based) and academic lectures (information-based). The listening part is spoken in American English. * For the writing part, try to write structured essays. I suggest focusing in summarizing information (task 1), which means you should not express what you think, and opinion essays, in which you have to have an opinion and use arguments to defend it. * For the speaking part, try to anticipate the kind of personal questions that can be asked and try also to verbally summarize information. If possible, contact a native speaker to point out and help you improve. I wish everyone the best of luck and kindly remind you not to forget your ID or identification document. You will need it to prove your identity on the day of your exam. It would also be wise to memorize or write down the code of the university you applied for, so that your results are sent directly to the admissions office. Should you decide to request this after the exam, you might have to pay a small, additional fee. Please also consider taking earplugs, water and maybe some snacks with you. Arrive at least one hour before the start time.
