Q: how far down from the bar does it hang when you are using it straight, not diagonal? I have someone who cannot reach her current closet rod.

I went in and measured and the drop is about 3 1/2 ". The hangers are sturdy enough that you could easily hang two garments in each slot. I also use the flocked hangers because they are very light and take up even less room. Hope this helps you. I actually bought one pack of the heavy duty 4 in a pack and at least 2 packs of the ones that are 5 in a pack. No problems with either one.

I believe it would definitely hold a good 20 lbs. These hangers are strong because they’re made from metal. I’m sure my clothes hanging from these hangers weigh about that or more. For a potted plant though I’d look at S biner carabiners. They have a closure device at each end and if you plan to hang this plant outside an S biner will securely hold it if a strong gust of wind blows through. These hangers are great though! I love mine and will be ordering more!
