Brush-on 40
I tried this product for the first time today. I was not pleased with the results but feel I should give this another chance. I've made rubber molds before using products that are no longer made. I am trying out various products made by Smooth-on to replace the ones I can no longer get. Here is why today's attempt was not successful. I think my first layer (there were supposed to be 4) was too thick. As it was setting up I tried to apply a bit more to the eye area of my sculpture. When I lifted the brush a chunk of the rubber came off. Because the first layer should be completely covered I will not finish the other three layers. I am thinking that the rubber was too thick and I want to thin it down a lot more for this first layer. I believe Mineral spirits will thin it down to the consistency I want and hopefully I will still be able to brush it on vertically (the whole reason for using brush-on). I was disappointed at first but then thought to myself, "this is a new product to me and I need to give it a chance." So, tomorrow after that first layer has cured I will remove it from my model and start all over. I might add that I am thankful that my model is a small head and not anything large. I am dealing with a trial size so there isn't a lot of product left but enough for at least 4 layers if I don't mix up too much which I did the first time out. I mixed up 6 oz and I think 3 oz would have been more than adequate. Hope this helps someone out there in the mold-making world.

Doesn't Work for Thick/Coarse Hair
I was extremely disappointed with this product. I have long, thick, coarse hair their videos made it look like this brush would work. It was a waste of money.

This brush on is incredibly difficult to work with. I'm not an experienced molder so that could add to the trouble, but I do not believe the pot life was correct. I wouldn't suggest purchasing this sort of kit if you have other options available for part creation.
