A must have book for anyone aspiring to master PostgreSQL 16
Just finished perusing, ππ¨π¬ππ π«ππππ 16 πππ¦π’π§π’π¬ππ«πππ’π¨π§ ππ¨π¨π€ππ¨π¨π€ this weekend from Packt Publishing, by Gianni Ciolli, Boriss MejΓas, Jimmy Angelakos, Vibhor Kumar and Simon Riggs. Without doubt the best book on PostgreSQL that I have read thus far, and in my library of over 3000+ books and a #MustHave book for anyone aspiring to master PostgreSQL 16.5 πππ₯π’ππ§π π©π¨π’π§ππ¬ π¨π§ ππ‘π’π¬ ππ¨π¨π€:1) Whether you're new to PostgreSQL aspiring to learn PostgreSQL Administration, or an Intermediate Admin user, or an Expert on earlier versions and looking to upgrade yourself to the nitty-gritty details of PostgreSQL version 16, this is a mandatory book to have on your desk.2) The language of the book is easy to understand. Less theory, and more hands-on practical advice from Experts in the form of ready-to-execute Administration recipes. The 180+ practical recipes & best practices are well explained and will get you up and running in no time at all.3) I loved the concept of "π―ππ ππ πππππ..." section after a recipe. Often, we execute scripts OR recipes in databases, and something desired happens, but we have no CLUE as to what exactly happened the way it happened. This section goes in-depth to explain the nuances under the hood of PostgreSQL, and also the core limitation, gaps, intricacies and exceptions to the rule, if any exists. I found these sections highly informative and EXCELLENT.4) Core personas that this book is for: Database Administrator, Database Architect, Database Cloud Engineer, Data Platform Architect, and PostgreSQL Developer.5) And finally, the content is not presented in a style wherein you're simply skimming through PostgreSQL Documentation equivalent. Rather, this book goes from PostgreSQL Fundamentals to Advanced challenges in a problem-solving format. The book is best used as a daily-companion OR desk reference for your Job.Purchase the book here and start your PostgreSQL Journey today.

Good lecture.
This book adopts the recipe format: it states a problem, provides one or more solutions, and explains them. This format is useful for finding solutions quickly. The content is of high quality. Some prior experience with databases is required to get the most out of this book.

Great book for a developer wanting to know how to set up Postgres
C++ dev with some knowledge of SQL. Wanted to know how to set up / admin /configure Postgres. This is a great book not just for solutions but also gives great overview into how things work. I.e. not just recipe following, although there certainly are plenty of recipies :)

A must have book for anybody managing a Postgres database
Gianni, Boriss, Jimmy, Vibhor and Simon created an updated version of their well known book. The PostgreSQL 11 cookbook held 175 recipes, the new version has over 180 recipes. Key new adds:- Trusted Postgres Architect - a new way to automate the setup of Postgres clusters using Ansible- CloudNativePG (CNPG) - the operator that automates management of Postgres clusters on Kubernetes- Innovative strategies for managing large tables with partitioning.- Connection pooling with pgBouncer, including techniques for running multiple PgBouncer instances on the same port.- New recipes are provided focusing on the use of the MERGE command and Just-In-Time (JIT) compilation, enhancing database efficiency and performance.- A comprehensive guidance on effectively utilizing JSON/JSONB data types and updated methodologies for implementing multi-tenancy in databases. There are many more additions and enhancements that make this a must-have book for Postgres administrators. Its a notable enhancement over the PostgreSQL 11 cookbook, which I reviewed a few years ago as part of this blog "A Review of 4 Top PostgreSQL Books".
