The blade has patterning and faint porous grooves so you can tell it’s the real deal versus the smoothness of my old missing martha Stewart plastic folder.)This little knife has a really wonderful handle curve and index finger notch that makes it Ergonomic for sure if you’ve got a small hand like me, and a need to do two thousand paper cranes twenty at a time for a future wedding. It’s genuinely more comfortable.One further advantage to having a genuine bone item is the very fact bone takes moisture differently than plastic or wood, and has a texture.I use my folders as clay tools too, and to me? There’s a difference in feel when you work with bone as opposed to a uniform plastic. You get a more subtly textured overall surface and not a flat smooth one. It’s more like a human touch in a tool. The irregularities inherent in bone tools actually mean you end up with a much different and pleasing texture even in things like the sculpey plastic clays, and don’t get weird smooth and shiny spots in the overall product. It’s a game changer for small sculpts. Highly recommend.
