Well worth buying and saving money!

I purchased these filters a few months ago. I used it when my original Dyson filter needed to be cleaned and I needed to use the vacuum right the way. It is very interesting to see my vacuum did not pick the dust in the bin as the original filter does (I..e I did not pick up the dust) I wonder why? When my origianl filter is dried, it picked up lots of dust from the same spot.

I finally got the right size for my vacuum. They are washable, but take quite awhile to dry. Great to have backups now!

I got this for my gen5 Detect mostly to have an extra filter to use while I wash the original. I can say that it fits properly and the vacuum turns on and doesn't have a filter not sealed warning. I will say that it seems slightly harder to seat this filter than the original. To my eye, this filter is nearly identical to the original. It's not marked with "HEPA Filter" and the design on the inside of the filter is slightly different, and the color of the plastic is a bit lighter. But other than that they look basically the same. I vacuumed a carpet once with this filter then a second pass with the original to see how much was left behind. My result was not much--just very fine dust (which the original filter also leaves behind on a single pass). Maybe there was more of it than the original filter would have left, but certainly in terms of perceptible filth, the vacuum got it all when using this filter. In terms of other differences, I notice the vacuum's motor sounds slightly different when this filter is installed--a bit louder and higher pitched. So if you need an extra filter or lost or broke your original--this is a great option. But don't expect it to outperform the original.

Will not buy again. That tabs that lock the filter in place are very fragile and easily snap off.

With this filter, compared to the actual dyson filter, the vacuum struggles in turbo mode. It squeals like it isn't getting enough air.
