Works well with my old model of DeWalt drill.

The unit worked great. This waas the first adapter I've used, and allowed me to use 20v DeWalt batteries in an older set of 18v tools, specifically a DW997 hammer drill and DW938 reciprocating saw. Since I already had the 20v batteries, this adapter was much preferred to shelling out the money to get new batteries for my older tools.

I have these on several DeWalt 18 volt tools. They work much better than the much more expensive DeWalt brand ones. I have one of those and I almost need to use a clamp to get it out of the tool.

The device does what it says. Adds ability to use dewalt 20v battery on dewalt 18v tools. They do not have the same number of metal spade connectors on the part that attaches to 20v battery like 20v tools have. I didn't use as designed. I have 14.4v tools that I wanted to use 20v lithium batteries. Tired of buying Nicad batteries that don't last. I didn't want to modify my tool. So I modified the adapter to fit by trimming the the squares off the back and notched where the 14.4 tool needed space. It now fits snuggly on 14.4v tool and works with 20v battery. Do this at your own risk. No idea how 20v will affect tool long term, but I'm at least getting more use out of it using this method.

I have an 18v DeWalt nail gun. I have 3 18v batteries, that I have fully charged, but for some reason it won't work with them any more. The unit will appear to charge up and then no nail punch. I was thinking about just throwing it away thinking it was something wrong with it, but I decided to check on youtube and found someone talking about this adapter that will convert a 20v DeWalt battery, and I have 2 DeWalt 20v batteries, and thought I'd give this adapter a shot, and it works!! And it was very very affordable! This is a no brainer if you have DeWalt 18v battery tools, but they don't work any more. If you have 20v DeWalt batteries use this adapter to see if they will work before throwing them away.

I waited quite a while to write this review, expecting as suspected, failure. This one has lasted over a year under modest use and it works as well as I need it to. As always, I will be amazed if it lasts much longer, but at the original price it really is a fair buy. And as soon as it's available again, I'll be buying another.

Nice tight fit. Works perfectly. What a great inexpensive way to revitalize my old drill.
