If you love birds, or need a gift for someone who does, this is it. The photography of single and well as multiple birds are just stunning and I'm honestly not quite sure how they managed some of those shots, some very talented photographers and some super cooperative birds! it The layouts and graphics are as gorgeous as the photos and the book delivers everything the pretty cover promises. Tip: To ensure your book arrives in great shape with an undamaged cover and dust jacket, order it separately. Books shipped separately are sent in padded envelopes and look great when they arrive. When they are boxed up with other items the corners get bumped and the dust jackets get small tears and marks.

Absolutely stunning. Purchased this book because it appeared to include a variety of birds, and was hoping it included marabou stork photos. While it didn't specifically have the marabou, it did have a section on scavenger birds (and other birds that don't usually get much attention -- including the wood stork). The span of birds covered is impressive (even better than expected) and the photos have a certain dignity to them. The information is concise and relevant. Appropriate for adults and children, makes me wish I had a coffee table -- and, to a lesser extent, friends to read my coffee table book.

Yet, ask most people about species becoming extinct and they're more likely to talk about rhinos or elephants. Noah Strycker and Joel Sartore have teamed up to photograph and write about 300 bird species in stunning, detailed color and heartfelt, fascinating prose that showcases the role each plays in nature. What happens when we who have so much power keep destroying strands from the web of life, like birds? Do we really want to find out? Or can we appreciate their place in nature? It's also helpful to point out that the quality of this book's paper really stands out. If you want to appreciate these birds for their beauty as well as everything else, this book shows it well.

Joel Sartore has several different books concerning his projects of photographing all the animas in the world. His photography is stunning. I received Birds of the Ark as a gift, I purchased another book in the series and look forward to purchasing the last in this series. These are great educational books on how world has ruined habitat and made so many species endangered. Every page has beautiful photographs.

Beautiful book, I can go through and look at it all the time

I ordered a copy of the National Geographic's Birds of the Photo Ark Book which was rated in good condition in the notes. When I received it, I discovered it was in fact in excellent condition, almost like new. I was very pleased to received my book very quickly. It arrived about a week after I placed my order. I am very happy with my purchase and would definitely order from this place again in the future.

We are so lucky that Joel Sartore is sharing his mission of photographing animals and birds before they go extinct with these stunning photographs. What makes his photographs so great is the personality he captures of his subjects. That is not an easy task to do with a photograph as those who have tried to capture the personality of their pets in a photograph will attest as animals do not pose. My personal favorites are the whimsical Great Grey Owl, the Oriental Stork that seems to be grinning at the camera, and the cuteness and pair bond of the Crested Auklet? I bought two copies of this book - one for my wife's classroom of third graders as she is a teacher. I hope that the magic of some of Sartore's pictures will inspire kids in the classroom. Hopefully, some of his photographs and books can make a difference for preserving these amazing animals with is the author's goal. Its not too late to protect many of these animals!
