Great clear picture , easy to control

Super great little borescope. The articulating head, adjustable light work great. The app made it super easy to connect to phones and share the photos with our customers.

Like that it is very compact as we carry in mobile vehicle. Our main use is within large bore (10.375") natural gas engines and with a little finesse you can clearly see enough detail to make a call on engine maintenance. We opted for more pixels which results in the larger size of scope, but still works well. Would be interesting to have the option of being flexible in all four directions rather than just two, but works very well as is. Only 4 stars for brightness but that is based on the large cylinder bore sizes we are dealing with.

I love this borescope. Works great looking down cylinders. Hard to see places on vehicles too. Has a very clear screen. So you can see everything and, the rotating camera is a bonus. I use this all the time at work. I would recommend this one at this price range.

great picture quality

This was purchased for the purpose of inspecting the interior of aircraft engine cylinders. The review is written from that perspective. The rating would likely have been better for some other applications. Initial impression: The device has a nice appearance and feel. It is nicely constructed and the controls operate smoothly. Display: The version utilizing a smart-phone display was chosen. By making this choice the display quality would be known not to be the limiting factor in image quality. Also, it was hoped that the cost of an integral would either be put into better quality in the other components or reducing the overall cost. The smart-phone support on this unit is exceptionally good. It mounts solidly on the endoscope unit and it holds the phone very securely. A thin PU phone cover does not need to be removed to fit the scope. Camera: As claimed by the manufacturer, this camera will focus down to 20mm. After using the device, I found that this was marginal for my application. A friend's Ablescope VA 400 will focus down to about 2mm. Lighting: The LED lights focus into a narrow beam. This results in quite a bit of specular reflection when looking at a polished metallic cylinder wall. More of a flood-light rather than a spot-light effect would be preferable. Cable: This unit has a flexible cable. The camera end tends to flop around even when the cable is gripped only a few inches away from camera. A semi-rigid cable would be better for this application. Articulation: The camera swings smoothly past 180° to either side of center. There is no locking mechanism or adjustable friction. If pressure on the articulation knob is released when the camera is turned past 90°, the cable tends to straighten out. This gets a bit frustrating when trying to shoot a picture. For inspecting the inside of an engine cylinder, even two-way articulation is unnecessary, much less 4-way. Phone app: The phone app for the i-phone will save still photos but does not work for saving video. From the little information that I found, the Android app seems to work better. This is a very impressive device for the money. However, for my application there are better options. In retrospect, I should have spent the extra money for the Vividia Ablescope VA-980.
