Great use for outdoors. Very easy to use, sturdy, good balance. Dont have to worry about wind blowing it over and break like my glass one that did just that. Very easy to read with dark blue lettering. Very accurate. Great for the ol lab kit.

Works like a charm. Easy to read, wanted a precise measure to fill my one liter coffee maker. One side is marked in blue, the other is marked but no color. Stands upright and doesn’t break when dropped. Wish we had gone metric.

Sone reviews stated that this item's base and column are joined by a few flimsy spot welds, and that these broke apart. Not so with the item which I received - the base and column are molded as 1 unit with no seams. The plastic is thick and sturdy. Some other reviews stated that the item was "curved" or bent - not so in this case, the item is straight and with no bowing. I have found, however, that the blue printed graduations come off easily - a little scratching with a fingernail will take them off. A compensating feature is that there is a separate set of graduations on the other side and these are molded - these obviously will not wear off. Holding the cylinder in the right hand and with the pour spout facing away, as the cylinder would be used when pouring, the molded (more durable) markings face the user. For a left-handed user it would be a bit less convenient were the printed markings worn off. The smallest calibrated amount is 50 mL, below that level there are neither printed nor molded markings.

I have worked all my life in a Biotech/Pharma lab. So, I know basic scientific equipment. I'm now retired, and I like to feed Hummingbirds. I make my own Hummingbird food (do not use food coloring), using just granulated sugar and good quality filtered water. It's important to use measured ingredients, and therefore a measuring cup for the water isn't going to cut it. The width of a measuring cup is too crude for this. So, I purchased this graduated cylinder for the water measurement, and it is about as accurate as you're going to get. The sugar can be measured by filling a cup container that holds 2 cups total, then leveling the top with a ruler. The formula I use is 2 cups sugar and 473.18 mL (473). This is near or at saturation, so it will take several minutes of stirring for the sugar to go into solution. Hummingbirds need this high concentration of sugar for their high sugar requirement.,

Needed something like this for a family member’s medical issues. The markings are easy to read. Hopefully, they will remain that way for quite awhile with daily use.
