This model is thin and very flexible. I sometimes use it as a blanket and place it on top of me. I can also use it in bed while watching TV or sleeping (on lower settings.) It provides warmth the full length of your body and provides me relief from soreness from working out and from my arthritis. Although it is thinner than some, it is very well made. It is more flexible and has more options for use. It is easy to roll or fold up to use in other rooms or if traveling. Expensive but well worth the cost.

Whether or not laying on a heating pad filled with crushed rocks provides better therapy than a plain old heating pad, is something I will remain skeptical about. Some of the claims, such as detoxification and weight loss, are a bit of a stretch if you ask me. I'm always a bit skeptical about claims of amazing health benefits in the absence of the citation of actual clinical trials.Nevertheless, this is a well build mat. What the crushed rocks do from an engineering standpoint, is provide heat diffusion so that the entire surface of the mat is heated to a uniform temperature without any hot spots... much like all those lava rocks or ceramic briquets on your BBQ grill diffuse the heat. The 25 ponds of crushed rock in this mat does a good job of providing uniform heat. Heat feels good on aching bones and muscles... that's all I know, and that's good enough for me. Whether this thing can provide me with some sort of magical detoxification, or whether or not I even need detoxification in the first place, is not something I'll spend much time worrying about.There are a few things I don't like about this mat. The first is the controller that comes with it. In the owner's manual, it says to limit your time on the mat at higher heats to 30 minutes. THEN.... on the controller, you have three 'on' time settings... 3, 6, and 12 hours. How hard could it have been to add a 30 minute 'on' time setting? The second thing I don't like is the temperature adjust mechanism. You have a knob that controls the heat. While turning the knob, a dual purpose LED readout inducates the position of the knob in increments ranging from 10 to 70. This is supposed to correspond to a temperature range of 85 to 160 degrees Fahrenheit. When you stop turning the knob, the LED readout displays the actual temperature of the mat in degrees Celsius. Since it is only a two digit LED display, there is no option to display the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit. Sound confusing? It is. Had I been the engineer that designed this control, It would have two LED readouts.... One for the 10-70 heat setting, and a second 3 digit readout for the actual temperature of the mat. That way, you could have a choice of displaying the mat temperature in Fahrenheit OR Celsius. It would be a much more intuitive control with those changes. I would also have implemented more 'on' time settings, as being limited to 3, 6, and 12 hour settings is grossly inadequate. At minimum, it shoul have a 30 minute setting.Overall, it's a well built mat, and probably worth the money. Mechanically, the controller is well built, but operationally, it sucks. I implore the manufacturer to make the changes I suggest and to make the new controller available to existing mat owners at a reasonale price.

I using heat stone therapy for two years, pros is It will help your body work better, recovery your immune sys. etc... con is you have to use it everyday.I lie down on my heat mat with the temp. of 65 everyday 1/2 hr on each side (front/back). It works for me for instance I never using cold medicine or advil in the past two years, whenever I feel uncomfortable or body ache I using my mat twice (morning and before bed), surprisingly It makes my body go over the uncomfortable of cold or allergy etc..I truly love the mat and I always try to introduce to my friend, so they will have the benefit as I have.I bought the extra large mat for my sister so she and her daughter can lie down and talk, I did not expect It also help a young lady (12 years old ) as well. This is good investment for everybody, I think.

Essentially this is a full body heating pad. I know it talks a lot about having crystals in it and etcetera etcetera. Being far-infrared etcetera etcetera etcetera but when you lay on it you'll actually find that only the part of your body that is in contact with the pad heats up. In order to heat up any of the other part of your body you have to put covers on like a blanket or something like that. That said it doesn't show full body heating pad. It's kind of nice. I'm giving this three stars because I do.

after a summer of having a dear friend lend me this model, to help me through Chemotherapy and radiation, after that was completed , and I had to return the mat, I noticed body pain, which I did not have before during the treatments. Truth, is what ever works. And this works. The company is great. there is a lifetime upgrade trade in plan. They sell the cover at the company, not on Amazon, that is well worth it too, but its a soft mat, very good to sleep on. There were others cheaper on Amazon but made in China. The company guarantees the quality of the stones. Well worth while investment
