Hill MK5 pump worth the extra cost and great exercise!
I bought this as an entry into filling PCP rifles. I received the MK5 pump which is supposed to be easier than the previous versions, well if it is easier then I’m glad I didn’t have an earlier mark of pump. It’s not easy, even using the suggested technique to fill a rifle from empty would be very hard work (tea breaks are needed), but it’s more manageable when used to top up an air rifles tank. On opening the box it needs assembly to be ready to use, the instructions are simply and I put the pump together in 5 minutes ready for testing. My rifle was at 140 bar and after 30 pumps it’s was back at 200 bar, I haven’t tried to get it up to the max of 230 bar as the effort does increase and I will not lie the sweat was starting to drip onto the pump. The pump feels extremely well made and the version I purchased was with the dry pac option, which I would recommend to protect your rifle from a build up of moisture in the rifles tank and shortening its life. The hills pump is not cheap, you can buy a scuba air tank for the same price, but then you have to go somewhere to get this tank refilled, and also tested every few years from manufacturing date. The other option is a high pressure compressor, these can range in price from £200 to £5000, I did look at these but I don’t shoot often enough to justify the cost of purchase and the hassle of servicing the compressor after so many hours of use was also a concern. So I purchased the hills pump, is it an effort to use - yes, is it simple to maintain - yes and that’s why I am very happy with the hills MK5 pump.

Good equipment
Good kit for self-sufficient air supply. Not difficult to operate at all, why the moaning?

Excellent quality and operation
This pump is very well manufactured (in the UK) and with very clear instructions for assembly and maintenance. The Dry-Pac feature is an essential and quite well engineered. It could have done with a cap to seal the inlet when not in use to preserve the desiccant material (which I think is molecular sieve). Takes just a few pumps to top up my air gun. Definitely worth the price.

Quality product, delivered fast; one fitted O-ring was defective but has spares so am very pleased with it.
I'm a new hobby air rifle owner; not used a PCP hand pump before; had an initial problem with filling the in-built gun canister; discovered 1 O-ring was defective on nozzle but the product comes with spares so switched it over and it works OK; When I start to pump I have to push the nozzle in a couple of times but after a few cycles the pressure builds and the air valve locks and it fills good and proper. I use the pump to keep pressure topped up and whilst there's chatter online, bricks and mortar shops, and on YouTube about how hard it is to use a hand pump, for me, it was no problemo and I'm no gym freak either. It's actually really easy to pump, and it enables autonomy / bug-out freedom from unnecessary and inconvenient scuba tanks. Build quality is robust. The speed of delivery was excellent. I would recommend this.

Excellent PCP air rifle pump. Very Easy.
Seems to be the Mercedes of rifle pumps... Very please with this great product. I opted for the dry-pac version for my Air Arms s400 carbine. Very easy to pump - was much easier and faster than I expected. Only used once so far - going from 100 bar to 190 bar in very little time and effort. In summary it's expensive, yes, but it's a great product and well engineered - nothing cheap about it. It's also a British product so if you're into buying British like me, the extra expense is a worthy cause! Seems like so much less hassle than a diving tank with all the regular check ups and visits to the nearest diving shop to fill up. It comes with two packs of dry-pac filling, the first going straight in the pump (into the dry-pac container!) and the second as spare. Enough to last 6 months (hopefully more if you don't use it too often). Plus a tube of silicon grease for keeping the shaft nicely lubed (no jokes!) So glad I didn't opt for one of the cheap chinese pumps.

A great pump
The best hand pump by far, but do yourself a favour and order the adapter from Hill or best fittings. I had two which did not screw into the pipe properly.

Superb quality. Works well.
This is an extremely solid and very high quality pump. Designed to tolerate pressures 100 times that of a car tyre. Bought from here it was supplied with 2 of the dry pacs and could not find better price anywhere. Delivery was fast and packaging top notch. The filling adapter for my Daystate Wolverine fitted into the hose connector and I had to remove the flow regulator screw from the Daystate adapter which is there for use when filling from high pressure sources such as compressors and p.scuba tanks. It's a good old workout to get the cylinder from 150 bar to beyond 200 bar but technique is important. I straighten my arms, fix my torso and bend at the knees so my body weight does most of the work. As a previous reviewer said, it is best to use the pump to top up the pressure in your rifle rather than run it down near empty and recharge. Overall I am extremely pleased with the quality and performance of this pump.
