Had high hopes, but as others have said, this (small trashcan with auto lid) seems like something that should be simple to design, but apparently not. Here are the problems: 1. At first, seems great. But wait... 2. Battery life is abysmal. I tried many ropes of batteries, from premium to rechargeable. They do not last long enough to justify an automatic lid. It's hard for me to quantify because it's obviously based on use. But let's say with light use, probably less than one month. 3. Once battery is dead, you can't manually open the lid without feeling like you're "forcing" the hinge mechanism. 4. Battery compartment is not convenient to pull out and push in. 5. As others have mentioned, hard to find/fit bags or liners that don't stick out and kill the sleek look. 6. Materials, including/especially what seems to be the motor, are flimsy. I am a very busy person and only take the time to write reviews (certainly long ones) when I feel I've been shorted on price vs. quality. Keep looking. You've been warned. Give more credence to the critical reviews than the shining ones.

Be warned that this product is not exactly like it's picture. Up until the date of this review, the pic shows a trash can that comes with a white line and the one we got didn't have it (it was completely black). It's not much of a deal breaker, but I genuinely dislike when pictures are deceptive (hence 4/5 stars), so I felt I had to let potential customer know about this issue. On the bright side, it works as intended and it meets our needs. Also, for the price, it's a good deal.

I knew it was going to be a small wastebasket but it was even smaller that I imagined. It's slim and not very deep so not a lot of trash fits in it.

Item was nice at first however it has stopped closing all the way and it just randomly starts opening and closing out of the blue

Like it. It does the job I bought it to do.
