Connect Older TV with Atmos Dolby Sound bar
This little box enabled me to connect a new soundbar with the Dolby Atmos features fully functional with an older plasma tv. Ironically I was concerned when I first bought my plasmas that they wouldn't last very long well my first plasma still works is in one of my bedrooms and it's 20 years old and still going strong I have two bigger ones that I've had probably 18 years and I just can't get rid of them they've got fabulous pictures I use the fire cube to stream everything and I love my new soundbar. Thank you for making this product so that we don't have to send perfectly good working electronics to the landfills.

Bring new life into an old receiver!
I have a 12 year old Yamaha RX-V665 receiver. It doesn't support any of the new tech, like Dolby Atmos or DTS:X, which is fine, but it also doesn't output past 1080p, which is a real deal breaker. I have a 4k HDR10+ TV, and the only way up until now to have this tv and receiver setup was to use an optical cable. What sucks tho is the optical cable is only compatible with 5.1 compressed, and it sounds far worse than using the direct HDMI from the receiver. That's where this device solves all my problems. This device allows me to have 4K HDR10+ video direct to my TV, and the audio extracted to an HDMI input to my receiver. So my receiver thinks I have the Roku plugged into it directly, giving me full 5.1 uncompressed, and I still get the full quality from my TV.I've been looking for a device like this for a long time, as the only other solution was buying another expensive receiver to replace my fully functional Yamaha. And I'm so glad it worked out of the box no problems.

Works well for extracting eARC for older devices.
It does pretty much everything it says it does, it will support extracting audio from a source, or from the eARC return channel of your television to an older HDMI receiver or sound bar that does not support eARC.Passes through all audio formats I have tried, and passes through 4K 60 HDR just fine. I did not try any high framerate stuff.Depending on your setup though, you may encounter audio delay issues. These are not necessarily the fault of this box, but this box can't compensate for them or fix them, and it would be nice if it had a way to delay audio to correct for delays in other parts of the chain. This is less of an issue however if your AVR or sound bar already has such a setting.

Does not work with Sony TV, Apple TV and Arc
Have a Sony TV, my media is coming from an Apple TV with a Sonos arc. I cannot find any combination that passes anything beyond stereo through.I’ve tried every combination on the Apple TV and the Sony TV. I can hardcode all audio to be in 5.1, but that has major drawbacks and defeats the purpose of this device.I will admit, my Sony TV is 10 years old with arc support, not earc hence the purchase of this device.

Doesn’t Solve Lip Sync Issue LG B7 with Sonos Arc
So this was purchased to avoid the cost of the more expensive competitor. It does function, possibly even getting better quality audio. However, it doesn’t seem to fix the lip sync issue I’ve had since getting the Sonos Arc.My assumption is since the TV (LG OLED B7) has only Arc and not eArc it causes the delay. For me it seems to be a 100-200ms audio delay. Figured since this adjusts the audio it might solve the issue, sadly it doesn’t do such. Might still function for other uses though. Especially if you’re not using it to fix the lip sync issue I’m facing.

Worked for about 30 seconds
I tried two of these and returned both. They worked for about 30 seconds and then could no longer pick up ANY Dolby sound. Atmos or 5.1. I fooled with them for hours but could never get them to work right. Support only told me to “change the cables.” Does not work well with new LG TVs.
