I seem to recall that when the album was originally released there was, from some quarters, derogatory comments along the lines of typical of a collection of rockers, sexist lyrics, and uninspired music. None of that put me off as I loved Free and Mott t H so I bought the album and it was good. After various home moves it eventually got parked in the loft and not played for years. Decided to buy the CD this week and remember all the semi negative press from years ago and was therefore interested at how it would sound now. If anyone is in a similar situation "fear ye not" the album is sensational - if anything better than before. varied songs - mood and tempo - throughout the album, well played, well sung and infinitely better than modern day rock offerings. Lyrics not sexist or predictable, pretty "loving" really so much better than the sexist vulgar drivel that we are sometimes subjected to now. Rock stars were rock stars back then, not manufactured "pretty boys" with their synchronised smiles, clothes and steps. This is top top stuff as you would expect from the greats of British rock

Probably Bad Company's best album
I brought this to preserve my Vinyl version, and also so I could play it in the car, probably Bad Company's best album, closely followed by Straight Shooter, Bad Company at there best. I expect all admirers of Bad Company would have this album.

Brazen and brilliant
Way back in the 1970s, a friend persuaded me that the best Bad Company album was 'Straight Shooter,' so that was the first of their albums I listened to. It was fair, but not overwhelming. It was many years before I heard this, their debut, and I listened to it for weeks. 'Bad Company' has a big sound, hard guitars, a great drum performance from Simon Kirke and, of course, Paul Rodgers lives up to his reputation for being the best British rock singer. 'Can't Get Enough' features an almost moronic, cliche-ridden lyric, but Rodgers puts it over so well it doesn't matter. Only 'Movin' On' has the same uplifting swagger. Most of the songs are bluesy and plaintive, though Rodgers' 'Seagull' closes the album in a softer, acoustic style. Comparisons with Free are inevitable, but guitarists Mick Ralphs and Paul Kossoff are so different in style, that such considerations are irrelevant. This is undeniably a hard rock album by a band suited to stadium gigs as opposed to the club and college-oriented kids who made great British blues. Whatever the arguments,'Bad Company' is one of the great rock albums.

What can you say about Bad Co The follow on from Free
What can you say about Bad Co The follow on from Free? This was the first outing and contains some classic tracks including the title track. It really was the taster for what was to come, namely Straight Shooter. If you liked Free you'll love Rodgers'vocals on this

Cant get enough
Bought this and was completely bowled away by Paul Rodgers fantastic bluesy singing. The tunes are all pretty awesome, especially the opener cant get enough of your love. There are some truly great tunes elsewhere on this album, including the way i choose, bad company and movin on. The overall feeling is very moody and hypnotic. Its a natural progression from the blues rock efforts of Free. Instead of the best of, this is the album to get, because all the best are here.
