I love it.
I love to journal, and I have an embarrassingly large assortment of journal covers. This one just arrived I’ve tried it out, and I can already tell it’s going to be a favorite. 1. Materials: I’m a fan of the look and feel of leather journal covers. The leather quality here is great. I tend to prefer darker colors or just to have more color options, but now that I have it in hand I’m liking this medium tone. I was concerned about the color of the snaps, as I don’t tend to be fond of gold. But in hand the color is more of a muted brass and works perfectly with the warm leather tone. I see a lot of comments about buffing out scratches and dings. You can do this but if scratches bother you this may not be the one for you. Personally I think being averse to scratches misses the of the point of having a nice leather journal cover. Leather has a way of looking better the more you beat it up. Those little scratches and dings give it character and personality. It’s will age with you as you use it and become unique. I love that kind of thing but it may not be for everyone. 2. Design: Like most journal covers it has a simple design. But there are a few truly excellent design features that are rocketing this journal up in my estimation. The first is the single strap that holds the journal insert in place. Many other covers use a system of pockets on each cover to hold the covers of the insert. They can be surprisingly difficult to fill, especially if the insert covers are made of softer paper and not as rigid. The strap lets you actually pull the insert cover through. This makes it much easier to fill while still feeling very secure. Because of this feature and the overall dimensions it’s one of the only covers I’ve encountered of this quality that can accommodate fillers with different bindings including spiral bindings if you want an insert that will lie flat. The one it comes with is also of really good quality, but I like having the option of using different kinds of paper. This is one of the main features that drew me to it and it works well. I also really like the flap closure for added security. It’s roomy enough to tuck in an extra small insert (you know who you are, I do it too). And has some front pockets for loose papers etc. 3. Style: It’s simple design and quality materials make it look upscale and professional, while having a rustic quality that for me makes it just whimsical enough to have some personality. I can see this working as a planner, a diary, a scratch book, a bullet journal, or even a gaming journal (DnD folks… I think you may like this). 4. As much as the simple design and color is appealing. I’d also like to see a few more color options and maybe some subdued design options or the ability to customize it with a logo or initials. But all of this is just a few nice things to have. It’s still fantastic just as it is. Overall this is everything I’ve wanted in a journal cover. Thank you to the fine craftsman who made it. I hope to be using it for many years to come.

If you love leather that will age beautifully, buy this, stat!
Beautiful leather! Scratches rub out. It smells heavenly. Very well made. It holds a5 leuchttrum (sp?), moleskine large, the a5 legend planner, a5 artist loft, and b6 sizes. I couldn’t get the exceed a5 inside though. I believe it’s crazy horse leather like midori TNs. I’m a bit of a learner snob and this meets all my expectations. The notebook that comes with it is beautiful! Thick cream paper. No complaints at all. There was a powder substance on it, as with most crazy leathers, but a damp cloth took care of that with no issue. This is a leather that will patina over time and look beautiful! It has a real Indiana Jones vibe. Also, if you’re familiar with Filofax, the color here is very similar to the ochre Malden. Just a touch darker. The contrasting stitching and gold buttons add a bit of rugged elegance. I found the added gifts a nice bonus too for keeping my ear buds together. The pen loop doesn’t really stay put but that’s not a biggie to me. Honestly the price is more than fair. This is a great gift idea as well for writers or plannerds alike.

Well worth the price
A simple but well constructed, soft and supple leather cover. I use it to securely hold two Moleskine journals, along with a pen. Which is exactly what I wanted.

Great graduation gift
Nice leather with key fob and pen. We purchased this for a USMA cadet who is graduating and it will serve him well to log his military journey.

classic look, well made
I had ordered this as a gift. There was a mix up w/shipping. Even though the snafu was on amazon's end, not the vender, Alina who i believe owns the company stepped up on her own accord to provide impressive customer service. The actual journal is fantastic. The leather is very good quality. It will take on a nice patina as its used over the years. The stitching is durable as are the two brass snaps which hold it shut when not in use. Before ordering it I had done a cursory look to see how hard it would be to get refills. There are plenty of companies including the classic student standbys to be easily found. The pad it comes with is actually pretty good and not being cost prohibitive, I most likely will stick with that for refilling. The notebook opens flat which is great if you do a lot of writing at once. This prevents odd hand positioning as can happen with notebooks you have to sort of hold open. I would recommend this to anyone who regularly writes.

Exactly as pictured; great paper
If you're like me, you find that writing down your ideas sticks better than typing them up on some list. I wanted a notebook that was spiral, had good quality paper to write on, and was portable for on the go inspiration. This is exactly what I got. Originally I was just looking for a notebook, but I saw this cover and couldn't resist. I had been looking at other journals similar but all of them were bound, and honestly I dislike those kind. It came earlier than expected and though I haven't used it much yet (just got it today even though it was delivered Saturday), it looks very sturdy, the paper seems very high quality in terms of thickness, and overall it just looks great. Very rustic. It came with stickers, too! I wasn't expecting that so it was a really nice surprise. The snaps, which I had seen come with a complaint before, seem well put together. Time will tell, and if anything changes soon, I'll come back to amend my review. For now though, I'm very happy with my purchase. The only issue I have (which is more preference than anything) is that I wish they had a spiral journal cover design that looked like the bound cover. I prefer the bound cover more, but this one is still great regardless, just a personal preference. Definitely recommend!

Well designed super cool little journal
This journal feels good, looks good, and is designed very nicely. The materials are decent and its obvious the details are paid attention to when they make these journal covers . . . Even down to the personal note sent in the box. These guys definitely seem to care about the quality of their products. So far so good with the mojo this journal provides. The first thing i noticed when i started using it was the thought put into the design. The easy open and close snaps are a lot better than i thought, compared to the leather lace used to wrap and close other journals. I also liked the pen holder/book mark . . . It’s very good at holding many pens+pencils with plenty of space in the journal cover when it's snapped shut. The pockets are also on point with simplicity and functionality. And finally the cord holders were nice little bonuses too . . . They are really handy and pretty much have nothing to do with buying a journal . . . But there they are! And they work great! And there’s two of them . . . Who would’ve guessed??? Anyway, if you’re looking for a super cool little journal that doesn’t break the bank, you can’t go wrong with le vent. . . . It’s a breeze.
