Great Integration
I was skeptical but this unit fits perfectly on the stock GTI trim. I swapped out the scissor support for a magnetic mount. The ball-and-joint is a universal fit so it works great.

Used the base and fitted a magsafe head
I bought this just for the base, it's a standard 17mm ball. I fitted it with a magsafe head I had laying around. The base fits really well, attach from the bottom then clip the top part in. I do recommend putting some 3M clear film on the back of the mount (2nd photo) I did this to prevent any micro scratching that can happen to your dash trim due to vibrations.

Holds a little too hard.
I need a phone mount to monitor gauges after tuning my car to stage 2. This works great, and honestly can say the phone goes no where.HOWEVER. The way this clips in, if you pull to hard getting your phone out, you will pull the entire hazard light mechanism out of the dash. It’s an easy fix because it just pops right back in, but still, beware.MK7.5 GTI

Works for 2016 vw golf
Perfect fit. Snaps in the area and holds the phone well. I have a pop out phone grip and the phone still fits. I wish I had found sooner. Super perfect
