Awesome for my Outdoor Adventures
Been using the Vertical for a few weeks now for a multitude of activities and am hugely impressed. The ability to track and monitor all my activities in one place via the detailed accompanying Suunto App which also gives me the ability to create and upload routes to use on the Vertical is very powerful and I love the 3D fly throughs on the routes I have completed. Automatically syncs it all to Strave too for sharing with friends but am finding I am using the Suunto App for the metrics data more and more.So far my primary use is running where the GPS has proved extremely accurate, even when trail running under dense tree cover. Pre-loading training routes and race routes either created from the App or a downloaded GPX file also means I don’t miss turns anymore, which is a godsend especially on those long runs. The onboard maps and turn by turn navigation have been very smooth and reliable and make navigating an unknown area very easy. Have used the heatmaps on the App to plan routes in unknown areas which is also a great feature. I have been using some of the extra Suunto Plus apps to give more data such as Ghost Runner and Drink reminder on those long trail runs. The HR data has also been very accurate for which I just tighten the strap one hole from the normal daily tightness to ensure accuracy of the optical HR reading. The data provided on training combined with the sleep tracking has given a good base for planning my weekly training and I have enjoyed seeing improvements in my fitness level metrics and resources recovery. The huge amount of sport modes has catered for everything I am doing whether climbing, hiking, mountain biking, weight training or yoga.I have also been hitting the mountains, pre-planning routes and using the Vertical as my primary navigation tool whilst on the ground. I always carry a phone and paper map/compass but haven’t found a need to revert to them so far. The map screen is extremely responsive and detailed enough to allow good navigation on and off trails. The 3D flythroughs of these in the App really are a great way to show others what you have been up to.The battery life is phenomenal compared to anything else I have owned and doesn’t even factor in to my training plan anymore worrying about whether I need to charge it before a session. If required though even a few minutes on the charger would be enough for a run which is brilliant if you do forget.Overall it is without doubt the best outdoor and fitness watch I have owned and looking forward to some great adventures with it throughout the summer.

Really nice watch
Battery - lasts absolutely ages, i tend to charge it every two weeks, after wearing it day and night and doing plenty of GPS activities. I dont think it has ever gone below 30%GPS accuracy has always been spot onLoads of pre loaded sports but you can create your own and customise the menusUsed to Garmin but now i have got used to the menus etc, i like it, bit annoying not having a dedicated back button but its not the end of the world.Looks smart - a fair few other watch faces to choose from which are customisable to show the data you want. You can get plenty of different straps from suunto but they seem quite expensiveThe sun hasnt come out since i bought it so cant really comment on the solar, from what i have researched, you are unlikely to see the watch charge up via solar but it will slow de charging down.Suunto app is good, all the stats from your activity available to view, quite informative and intuitive once you find your way around it.Screen is nice and bright and does the job, nowhere near as vivid as an AMOLED that the suunto race has but that comes at the expense of battery life.Seems a decent price for a premium watch, i paid £550ish, i did see it for £450 on black Friday - whilst this made me want to hit myself in the face i am over it now.I have paired with suunto wing headphones so i can now hear cars that want to run me over.I have no regrets moving over from Garmin Fenix. It was a toss up between this and the enduro 3, this was over £200 cheaper and does more than what i need. Probably just down to personal preference.

Great watch for navigation. Good activity tracking.
I use this primarily as an offline gps route navigation device. So long as you preloaded routes it will let you track location very accurately to within a meter or two. Have been hiking in remote areas with no Internet and its kept me bang on often faint or even missing paths. Fitness tracking good.Battery amazing. Weeks of life rather than hoursTwo downsides.Being English and awkward I like to use a mix of measurements, distance in miles but elevation in meters. Etc and I can only select metric or imperial measurements would like a uk friendly mixed option.Secondly the watch interface can be frustrating to operate, it doesn't seem intuitive and needs screen swipes or long button presses to do things you think should be on a button.

Good and could be excellent.
Very pleased with this purchase. Only giving it 4 stars as the app you hand to use is pretty poor. Also the watch is quite a complicated bit of kit and not over intuitive. In addition the watch keeps very inaccurate count of steps and it is not possible to recalibrate it.But in terms of navigating it is excellent and highly useful when leading group walks s it buzzes when you get too deep in conversation and miss a turn! Battery life is excellent.

Comfortable and reliable
Great watch, but wouldn't trade up to the solar again.

Functionality
Battery life < 30 hours without activity tracking, < 24 hours with it.Biosensors alarmingly inaccurate, e.g. blood oxygen.Buttons and menu navigation clunky and counterintuitive.Processing speed painfully slow.
