I've been buying name brand bags up until recently. Something changed with them (cheap drawstrings). I've had good luck with Amazon Basics and figured Whole Foods brand should be OK. Better than OK. They are doing a better job than the brand names at a better price. The drawstrings are a contrasting color (easy to find) and symmetrical rather than towards one side. They feel satisfyingly thick. So far no rips but I try to avoid sharp corners. They fit fine in my kitchen trashcan and do the job without leaking.

I just started using these. They seem good quality and have a drawstring closure. Would buy again.

These bags are thin and sturdy, so even if they are not truly an environmental product, I don't feel bad using them this time. They are strong and tie well. No messes on the way to the bins.
