BIA Cordon Bleu 8 Piece Porcelain Square Egg Cup Set with Spoons

Wanted to let people know....buy these!....I kept looking and looking for egg cups (just bought the krups egg cooker----btw, that is great, worth the extra money)...I looked at so many...so many of the reviews were so mixed...too small...too big...same with these, different reviews...but I went with these because the egg Sat lower than in the pedestal kind...I wanted it sturdy on the plate/table...lower center of gravity...so they are nice and heavy...easy to hold and dig eagg out of...egg fits in nicely, so far used x large egg...fit in great...it looks as if med and large will fit in just as well..it's not a super tight fit..tiny tiny bit of wiggle, but since it's lower and sturdy then the rest, its just fine...egg sits up in a great location to take the top off...they look really nice..so I recommend them!!!...I looked at MANY till my head hurt!....just keep in mind, its 8 piece which is 4 cups and 4 spoons...not 8 cups....hope this helps...

I love these egg cups. I use them every morning for my soft boiled eggs. They clean wonderfully and the outside coating is durable and chip resistant. The only downfall is that if you drop the spoons on a hardwood floor they WILL break due to not only being porcelain but also how thin they are. Generally, if you are careful and do not have kids, they will work great for you.

These are wonderful ceramic holders. They hold the eggs steadily and are so attractive! They are sturdy also, which was a surprise. I love poached eggs and using these make it that much better.

These egg cups are sturdy and stylish, but I consider them too big, and here is why: Having grown up in a country where soft boiled eggs for breakfast are pretty much the norm, I've been exposed to hundreds of different egg cups. What you want in terms of size is a *small* egg cup. A small egg cup will do two things: 1) It will hold any size eggs. 2) It will leave enough of the egg exposed, so you can comfortably aim with your knife to "behead" the egg about 1/3 to 1/2 from the top without having to worry about hitting the egg cup or ending up with too small an opening. I usually buy "extra large" eggs. Most of them fit these egg cups, but some of them don't and the egg "disappears" into the egg cup, barely leaving any of the egg exposed. My "large" eggs totally disappear in these egg cups. The inclusion of porcelain egg spoons is a plus here. They are on the small side (they are normally the size of regular egg spoons), but are the preferred material for eating eggs. (Avoid real silver spoons because of oxidation. If you tried metal tea spoons, but did not like the combination of metal and egg, try plastic or horn egg spoons.) I keep the porcelain spoons in an extra basket in the dish washer, as they are a bit fragile. I'll be trying another set of egg cups next. Some additional tips for soft boiled eggs: 1) If you are worried about your egg exploding while boiling, puncture the "thick" end of the egg with a needle before boiling the egg. That end of the end has an air bubble, so nothing gets spilled it you puncture it. 2) If you prefer opening the egg by peeling some of the shell off do this: once the egg is boiled, pour off the boiling water and then quickly rinse the egg under cold water. It will make the shell come off easier. 3) Popular soft boiled egg variations: in a 5-minute egg the yolk is all soft and this is the classic soft boiled egg. Some people like the 6-minute egg even better: the center will be soft, but the outer part of the yolk will already start firming up, without being as hard as in a hard boiled 8-minute egg. (Cooking times will vary with location relative to sea level.)

Cup are super cute and Sturdy. Spoons break VERY easily. As in my son dropped it from a bar stool to the thick carpeted floor and it broke in half. Maybe better with adults. But the cups are very sturdy and my kids love them. They are a little bigger than I thought. They completely surround a large egg. And some extra large eggs sit on top like the picture. But it's nice that the eggs fit down in the cups for kids. for Perfect Soft boiled eggs. 1)put eggs in pan and cover with cold water. 2)Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 min. 3) drain and run under cold tap water for 60 sec. 4) roll crack and serve. running yolk, cooked whites.

My husband has recently decided he loves soft boiled eggs, but we had no egg cups. I decided these would make a great Easter gift for him (with a few other soft boiled egg related items), especially since we just started raising chickens. He kept saying he just wanted "plain" egg cups, and I worried the square shape and yellow color inside might be a little "too funky" for him, but he loves them and uses them often. The box they come in is great to keep to store the spoons and cups in so they don't get broken in a drawer or cupboard. The price for these appealing, durable cups (including perfect-sized ceramic spoons) cannot be beat. I highly recommend them.

The spoons are very small delicate, will fracture and break immediately if you tap them too hard on anything (like an eggshell). The cups on the other hand are solid and large, much too large, as a matter of fact, to hold immobile (needed to enjoy boiled eggs in the shell) even the most jumbo-sized eggs you can buy at the market. I ended up using these as shot glasses instead...

great quality, big, but I like that. spoons are adorable.

So much fun! These are great. The only downside is that they are still egg cups - which means my wife bought them on the premise that we would use them and now they sit endlessly in our cupboard. Nobody actually NEEDS egg cups unless you are running a bed and breakfast. My cupboard looks really classy now though.

A bit overpriced

Good for the price. Nice China. Cups suitable for XL eggs. Small eggs look a little undersized. I feel like the spoons will break, but they haven't yet.

I bought these as a gift for my daughter and she just loved them. Modern & cute in design and good quality. Shipping was extremely fast.
