Yale is known for good strength which is what you'll find with this security bolt key. It has longer shaft compared to other keys which is a bonus.

I cannot believe, after years of ramming my body against door (ill-fitting one) trying in vain to turn key for bolt to go across - the ridges obviously knackered after all these years, I haven’t thought of buying a new one. This new Chubb key is a godsend! As soon as it arrived it replaced the old one. Sheer heaven now to lock door - one or two twists of the key and bolt slides across effortlessly. Safe and secure. Have ordered another for spare. Brilliant product at a very good price!

I would consider myself proficient at DIY but this was a frustrating installation. If you fail to drill into the door perfectly horizontally or the keyhole perfectly perpendicular to the hole the mechanism will bind, and possibly not work. Add to that the key was not long enough for the door in question, but this was solved by cutting some of the plastic off the key to allow it to penetrate deeper. Nothing wrong with the product per se but they make installations sound a lot easier than it is. Be warned.

So my autistic six year old son can dismantle or open any lock in our home with the exception of: 1) The cardinal gate door lock (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004RL1IMC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1) 2) this product. We’ve tried: 1) Baby gates and door nob locks which worked till he was about two and ripped them out of the wall or figure out how to open. 2) Door lever locks which handle our door lever handle. These worked till he was about 4. We moved to the metal latches which bought us another 3 months till he figured out how to climb up using a chair/dresser/books/laundry and flip the lock at the top. The cardinal gate door lock works great for doors going out of the house (so at least we know he is in the house) as those door always open into our home but we had no internal defenses to to stop our son from day and night rampaging in all parts of our home. This lock ended that issue (for the moment anyway). It’s really versatile as you can set the lock to work from one side of the door or both sides. You can open the lock with a Phillips head screw driver but the key are a nice convenience and you can buy extra keys! The lock does require some effort to install. I bought some metric drill bits (~$15 for an 8 and 16 mm drill bit set) and used a chisel set I already have to chisel the latch and lock into the side of the door. My first install took an hour, my second one took 20 minutes. So we are happy and set for now. I’m sure our son will eventually figure out how to defeat these locks but he is getting more responsible and we should not need to locks sooon; but for now our pantry, laundry room, my daughter’s room and a storage closet are safe. Lock are working well. Took less then 20 minutes to my handyman to fix it!!!!! I'm very happy I finally got that lock!
