My twins started memorizing his books when they were 2 years old, so of course we were very excited for a new Pigeon book! That persuasive pigeon is always up to something! I love the story. It's like the others, but unpredictable, so it was so much fun to read and I'm looking forward to reading it many more times. There's also a little "Easter egg" hidden on the page with the fireplace, and my daughters noticed it right away! I just saw stockings at first, but they knew! I don't want to spoil it for Mo Willems fans, so that's all I'll say. ;) And the ending really made me hopeful for another Pigeon book. I sure hope he'll write more, because we love them! It's another cute book, but what I love most about Mo Willems' books is that they're enjoyable no matter how old you are and they're educational. Toddlers love the silly characters and their lines, which they quickly memorize, and then that encourages them to read. One of my twins was reluctant to practice reading sometimes, but she was always in the mood for Pigeon or Elephant and Piggie books. They really helped with her confidence. Both of them started reading chapter books last year, but we'll always enjoy Mo Willems' books. Of course I got "Be the Bus," which is targeted towards adults, too. I definitely recommend this book for any age and it would make a wonderful Christmas gift! We just couldn't wait until then and had to read it now. :) Review: Perfect Book for Christmas! - If you like other Pigeon Series books, then don't skip this one. Our family loves Mo Willems and all of his books, so we are so excited to add this to our collection. It's hilarious, engaging, and beautifully drawn illustrations. It's a similar plot to Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, but there's a fun, playful twist of Christmas in there.

More pigeon-created drama. Perfect for reading aloud!
Mo Willems hits it out of the park again. The pigeon once again wants to drive something. This time it's a sleigh. As in previous volumes, he begs and pleads before throwing a temper tantrum. Once he calms down though, he takes a closer look at the sleigh and realizes their is no clutch or steering wheel. The last straw pokes it's nose onto the page sending pigeon fleeing. The humor shines through as the pigeon learns once again that sometimes things aren't exactly what we expect them to be and desires can change. But has he actually learned his lesson? I don't think so judging by the twist at the end. Mo Willems has a knack for creating books that are a delight to read and make numerous readers laugh both young and old. Perfect for reading aloud with it's simple yet perfectly designed text. The use of a variety of fonts gives readers clues about how to read it. It's simply impossible not to become the pigeon as one reads. The illustrations are bright and eye-catching. It never ceases to amaze me the way he conveys so much emotion with simple lines and shapes. Young readers and writers may even want to create their own pigeon stories. A great read aloud for the holiday season and all year.
