Yet another pair of Birkenstock Arizona for this happy customer
As usual, out of box, adjust straps, put on feet, job done! After years of looking for the ideal footwear to help with poor balance caused by a bad hip and weak leg, and much disappointment with "similar" sandals by other makers, this is my sixth pair of Birkenstocks so I knew what to expect. As a bonus, they arrived a full week earlier than advised. Probably not for the fashion conscious, but if you're looking for comfort, fit and quality, in fact something you can wear all day without thinking about your feet, then these are for you. The only disappointment is lack of availability of the full colour range in my size (I'd buy more pairs at the excellent prices available on Amazon if only I could find them in more colours I like - there are far too many shades of brown and not nearly enough "brights" in this style in my size).

Comfortable!
This pair of slippers feel great. Don't be put off if they feel too hard initially. I think it'll normally take a few weeks for the soles to soften and to mould to the shape of your feet. After breaking them in, they'll be the most comfortable pair of slippers that you'll ever have! A word of warning though. When you order, remember to check out the sizes on the Birkenstocks website. My feet measure 260mm normal width. When I buy shoes, I normally wear US size 8.5 or 9, UK size 8 or 8.5 and Europe size 42 or 42.5. However, I needed a size 40 for the Birks. So remember folks, when buying stuff online, remember to check the EXACT specifications to save yourself from sizing trouble. Kudos for Birkenstocks to put up an exact foot size chart up. All footwear companies should do this instead of the typical numbering that they use which is not precise enough.

Ideal Product
Perfect, delighted with purchase, highly recommend seller. Only downside was delivery, driver didn't even knock door and left parcel on front step which happens to be on the pavement of a main road, could have disappeared in a second. Not impressed with delivery but that is not the sellers fault.

Not soft footbed, original footbed
Size 5.5 Stone original footbed The ones I received were original footbed, not soft, which is annoying because I wanted the soft footbed. Birks run big, so I ordered a 5.5 instead of my usual 6. I could possibly have dropped down another half size but because they curl to conform to your foot as they break in, Birkenstock advise having 10mm in front of your toes and 5mm behind your heel when you stand up in brand new ones. The stone colour is lovely, almost green/grey and nicer than it looks in the photos. You’re meant to seal the cork to protect it, and redo it when the finish stops being shiny, so I’ve done that. Sealing the cork stops it crumbling at the slightest damp. Birko Flor doesn’t need wearing in, but as these are the original, hard footbed they’ll take a lot more breaking in than the soft footbed. I didn’t get charged import tax for these, and they arrived at my chosen locker in 24 hours, which I’m very pleased with. The price was reasonable considering they’re £90 plus postage on the Birkenstock website. Edit: Now they’re broken in they are bliss! They’re probably my most supportive, comfortable shoes, and the custom fit you get with the hard, original footbed is hard to beat.

I'm sold on Birkenstock..
I love my Birkenstocks, they've changed my summers for the better. As with many Birkenstock sandles the size is important as your feet mould to the cork over the first few wears - it's best to wear them around the house for a bit to speed this process up. You'll know they've worn in when all of a sudden the strap tightness isn't important - the sandles literally stick to your feet. The materials used are comfortable, flexible and durable. Only downside is the cork splits when you stub your toes a few times (ouch).. but nothing a bit of glue won't fix. My next pair of sandles will be Birkenstock - top brand. Please hit 'yes' below if you found my review helpful :)

Read the review advice on size/fit
I recommend taking the time to read the reviews and advice on size. After doing so I ordered a 39 for my size 6.5 feet and they're fine. I usually need size 40 in shoes so had my fingers crossed when I placed my order. However, the 39 fits perfectly. I also read a lot on the Birkenstock website, where it tells you that your toes and heels should not be on the rims around the edge of the sandals. There's also useful information on their site re widths, care of your sandals and about repairs available. The sandals weren't immediately comfortable but they have softened and I'm wearing them every day now and they're fine. I've experienced plantar fasciitis in the past and think I'm best avoiding totally flat sandals/shoes/slippers (better to have some arch support). These Birkenstocks are great. I've had Scholl sandals in the past and although the footbed was comfortable the straps were not adjustable and stretched so that the sandals became loose and my foot slid around. For slippers I highly recommend Haflinger clogs!

Disappointing
Disappointing sizing actual 8/42 more like 8.5/9 and that’s according to their sizing inside the box. For the price expected leather and not man made uppers

Le ciabatte arizone della birkenstock le indosso da molti anni. La loro riuscita è perfetta anche dopo anni di utilizzo. le ho ricomprate solo perchè dopo 21 anni le volevo cambiare. Fantastiche e comode come al solito

The Birkenstock Arizona's are the epitome of comfort and style. These iconic sandals offer an unmatched level of support, thanks to their contoured footbed and adjustable strap design. The moment you slip them on, you'll feel the immediate relief and cushioning they provide. My tip is to size down at least a half or one size down. Birks are known to run large. Aussie speaking here!

I've been a loyal Birkenstock owner for years. As a kid growing up in Portland, Ore., Birkenstocks were the only way to go! This is my third pair of Arizona soft-footbed sandals... it's not so much that they wear out as that, living in warm, humid Florida, I find they get funky and grimy over time, and need to be resurfaced or retired. For the soft-footbed pairs, resurfacing is almost as expensive as a new pair, so I just buy new. If you've never owned a pair of Birkenstocks: they feel great as soon as you put them on and the cork begins to conform to your feet within a matter of days. Within a week or two, you won't want to wear anything else. The toe bar helps keep your toes in position, and the cup for your arch is comfortable even for someone almost completely flat-footed like me. They'll slip around on your foot a hair while you're walking, but if you find that it's more than a little bit, you may want to get a narrower pair. If you are wondering about the soft footbed vs. the regular footbed: I found that the soft-footbed are, obviously, more comfortable. They're better suited to wearing barefoot, where the classic footbed may be for Oregonians and Germans who like to wear them with socks. :-) On the other hand, the soft footbed gets funky and needs to be cleaned a lot sooner. My only complaint about the Arizonas is that the straps over my right foot are a little too loose, and can't be made any tighter. I take them to the cobbler and have him punch a new, higher hole in the leather. These are wonderful sandals. I wouldn't buy anything else.

Logicamente un po' duro all'inizio. No, grazie.
