Great little device for solo hikers
Great purchase for those who like to hit the backcountry alone. Accidents can and do happen. I am glad I finally invested in one! Super easy to use. Gives me a peace of mind and I enjoy my trips more, knowing that I have a way to communicate if something goes wrong

Inreach mini 2
Works great ,light weight, had it clipped to my day bay for our summit, didn’t get in the way and was easy to use to send a few messages when I had no cell service.

The Wearable "power" pack is so cheap. Don't order this bundle with the battery
The GPS unit is fine but the "power" pack battery doesn't work, asked the vendor for a replacement and they had good customer service, but the 2nd power pack didn't work either. Just use your own battery pack...

The device is easy to use but the plans take time to understand.
I'm happy with the inReach Mini, it just took a while to understand the best way to use it. I didn't need the custom texting in the field. I would text as normal within cel service area from my phone. Then use the inreach to start tracking and use the canned messages while away from cel service. Once your people know to not reply to a Garmin text, it worked fine.

Peace of mind offshore
This device, though a little pricy, is worth every penny. Im able to check weather, send and receive texts, and if necessary, use it for navigating. Plus, SOS button in case of emergency. It will send out my position and call appropriate rescue. Battery lasts for days. Use my cell phone, along with the app to send the messages. If the cell battery goes down it can be used as a stand alone device. Device only was about three ounces and is small. It can easily fit in a pocket. Mainly use it when I go offshore fishing and lose cell service.

Worth the price
I spent weeks agonizing over which satellite communicator to buy. It came down to this or the Zoleo. I chose this one because it has a track back feature that works even if your phone is dead. I also liked being able to text with rescuers even without a phone. Anyone who ventured into the wilderness should get something like this. You never know when disaster will strike. Good support staff as well.TheHikingGuy has a great comparison review of these (and also the satellite communication ability of the iPhone 14). His reviews are worth a look.

Bought discounted open box unit, got unusable device
I bought what looked like a decent deal: an open box Bundle (should have included charging cables, plugs and power bank with the device) and the only flaw I expected was slightly damaged packaging as was described in the description of the item I purchased, which was slightly discounted from the original price. Received the Garmin InReach Mini 2 in its box, no bundled items, no cables either. Whatever, fine. But the device has already been registered by whomever bought it first, it’s clear they registered and used it already and never cancelled their account, and we cannot register the device so it’s essentially a total brick. If you’re considering an “open box” return that’s discounted I wouldn’t bother, apparently the returned units aren’t checked that they are actually functional or reset for a new user. You can spend hours like we did trying to troubleshoot this but you might as well spend the money for a new device for all the time you waste trying to see if this can be fixed. I’ll be returning this and buying a new Mini 2 that hasn’t been messed with by someone else.
