Absolutely love this book. Clear and precise instructions which are easy to follow. Love the format of the pattern drafting using measurements not standard commercial sizing. Lots of hints and tips on how to sew for your own body. So many styles of dresses to make once you have your blocks sorted to actually fit you. This book gives you the confidence to make and wear a dress that honestly does not look home made. Would highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to make their own clothes whether you’re a beginner or more advanced.

Wonderful book for sewing. Brilliant information for the beginner and experienced sewist. Well put together clear pictures and well explained. Comes with a pattern to use the tips learnt in the book. I can’t rate highly enough!

I must admit, I have not had a chance to look at this yet but by all accounts and from seeing comments on Facebook groups, this is an excellent book.All I've managed to do is have a quick flick through it and it looks like it will be very helpful for my sewing journey.The book is top quality to and has patterns at the back to help build your own fitting block to sew perfect clothes.I am sure that when I get around to sitting down and going through the book, I'll be a master of dressmaking.

Easy to follow (but I am not a novice). It’s good that you can mix and match the top and skirt options. However the options aren’t particularly sophisticated.

I love this book, read it quite often.

I am an experienced sewer and have made lots of different types of projects over the years. I bought this book to take me back to basics as, like many other people, am not happy with the fit of the dresses I made.The book is very detailed and easy to follow. It is a must for the beginner to understand how to use a pattern an make it fit. For the more advanced sewer, it gives lots of detailed ways to alter patterns to change the style of the dress and make it fit. Making the toile adds a couple of hours to the sewing project but makes a huge difference to getting it to fit your shape. I would highly recommend the book to inexperienced and experienced sewers, who like me wasn’t happy with made clothes that didn’t always fit well. Just wanted to say that this book is 1)has a hard cover, 2)Includes ALL the paper pattern sheets 3)No pattern sheet resizing required 4)The pictures and text are clear and easy to follow 5)The quality of the writing and instruction is like having a tutor right next to you. 6)The auther is on youtube. I must tell you how thrilled I am with this book and all the included pattern sheets. Having bought other books only to find I have to pay to get the pattern sheets printed, or they do not scale properly when I print the pattern sheet via my inkjet printer, this author Helen has provided all you need and made it easy for you to trace the pattern pieces if you want to keep the original pristine. The price doesn't reflect what you get, This is a bargin and a great tool to develop your dressmaking to actually making clothes that fit my body shape and I look good in them and happy to wear and feel so confident wearing my creations. I am so pleased with it. Highly recommend you give it a go and buy it. You won't regret it. You'll learn loads. Bargin.
