Q: On this ad, I see the dimensions, but, what is the actual length? And is there a shoulder strap and are there hooks on bot sides?

I don't know the actual length, as it's at my other house. I do know that it is a great size. I put all of my knives, including my really 15 3/8" bread knife in it and had room left over for other cooking necessities. It also has a strap w/ a hook on both sides. I love it. Was really impressed.

Q: I have a 17 in steal would this fit

I'm sure this would fit. I have a 19.5" long brisket slicer that just fits within this bag. It was the reason that I got it. I also have room for a bunch of other butchering knives and a set of whetstones. It seems to be working very well for me. I've only carried it around to a few places.

Q: How do you clean the bag?

I haven’t had to clean mine yet but the material is such that you can just use a sponge and soap and water and then just dry it off.
