Golden Acryl Med 32 Oz Crackle Paste

I’ve used this medium several times before and LOVE it! There are a couple tricks to using it. If you’re applying it to large surfaces (like I do) you need to apply it quickly (I use a spackle knife) and smoothly, and you need to completely let it dry. Don’t get it too thick or your cracks will lift. Or too thin, which will make them barely visible. The finish will be off white and will be very porous. Once you’ve used it once, you’ll get the hang of it. But I would test it on a small surface first so you can get a feel for it. You can see in my pictures, I put it on, let it dry, painted over the cracks, and it gives me a yummy finish for my art! This is a great product at a great price!!! At my local craft store a tiny 8oz jar is 25$. I’m glad you can buy larger sizes like this 32 ounce jar online! Such a great deal!!

I use this crackle paste for my mixed media artwork. I found the price to be high compared to a gallon of it I saw with a competitor which was twice this price! The crackle paste goes on smoothly and grips my canvas as it dries. It has beautiful cracks after it dries.

I like to add an aged and distressed quality to my artwork - this does it very well. My only caveat is that too much water on it causes the cracks to blend together -I find that a spray coat of fixative before painting solves that slight issue.

It does take a decent amount of the paste to get the crackle effect. I’ve been mixing it with other mediums and getting results that I desire. Works well to mix in a molding paste and more paints. Acrylics work best. Oils tend to keep it from cracking. Adding glues or caulking gives interesting results. Posting a photo of a recent painting I did with this order of crackle paste.

This crackle paste is pretty dang good as far as crackle paste goes. I would recommend. It’s got a good amount of crackling with out being too much to where it just crumbles.

Works great for my artwork

Unlike the previous jar of Golden Crackle Paste that I used, this product refuses to make large cracks. Even applied thickly it produced tiny cracks that were difficult to see unless you looked closely.
