Lens was as advertised, received well packaged although not all Nikon (canon case & lens cap Tamron) but the lens works as I would expect a Nikon lens to work.

I’m a complete novice at photography but I’m loving this lens. I got the lens yesterday and went out today to try it out. Not much about to photograph though but I managed to take these shots between the rain showers! I’m certainly impressed with this lens. It’s a renewed one, but seems like new to me 😀

I purchased this lens for use on my Nikon d850 and so far am very pleased with it. It’s not the lightest lens on the market, nor is it the latest and greatest, but this is a very solid lens on virtually every level. I don’t have a lot of experience with other macro lenses. But the first word out of my mouth on the very first picture was “wow”! This lens is sharp! Are other lenses sharper? I don’t know, but as a total package from build quality to image quality this is a great lens! I know some will criticize the autofocus and even the need for autofocus, but on my Nikon d850 its amazingly fast and accurate when used as a standard lens. For macro, a bit less so, but as a general lens it’s excellent. So why use autofocus on a macro lens? Well, because it allows for automatic focus stacking on my camera, but also because it’s not just a macro lens. It’s a great portrait lens and general use lens as well! So, for me anyway, autofocus does matter and, on my camera, it is very fast and accurate. I also like the vr stability. Shooting with vr turned on and then turned off, you see a noticeable difference in image quality at slower shutter speeds for general use. Granted, this lens is becoming a little dated, but it still offers superb image quality and features and a price that is now very favorable for today’s market. I highly recommend this lens.

Really nice lens. Wide enough aperture to allow you to shot indoors without flash (in a relatively dimly lit space). Fixed focal length holds down the weight some. The focal length works well for head shot style portraits. The macro feature gives it extra versatility. So far (I’ve had it about a month), loving this lens!
