This is a must have for anyone learning Web GIS!
This is a must have for anyone learning Web GIS. A real blessing to those folks who actually do this work on a day-to-day basis! This is the first time I have given a 5-star rating on a book.

It's just a bunch of tutorials
I was hoping for some significantly deep content for the very high price. However, the book is just a lot of tutorials about various Esri products. I wouldn't be surprised if many of the tutorials are available online for free. The physical book was nice though. Decent paper, lots of color images, and good text annotations (like highlighting a word when it's text you're supposed to change).

Low Quality Edition?
ESRI Press usually produces high quality books. However, this 5th edition (and 4th) of Getting to Know Web GIS looks like it was printed from my desk printer. The paper is nothing more than regular printer paper and the ink is dull/faded. Many of the ESRI Press books I have are printed on a gloss paper with high quality ink (e.g., Web GIS 1st and 3rd editions, Python Scripting for ArcPro, and Advanced Python Scripting for ArcPro) and they are half the price of Web GIS 5th e. Not sure what ESRI was thinking on this, charging $105 for such low quality print. If you don't care about quality and only are concerned with the content, then it may be worth it. But even then there are far fewer screenshots compared to earlier editions (1-3). I feel that ESRI has put profit over quality and we should not support this low level product. Let ESRI know it!
