Brilliant !!
Brilliant, This is the second packet, We use them to fasten the inside edge of our porch awning to the side of the caravan and this provides an excellent seal from wind and rain, far better than the upright pole system normally used. I've already put 4 on each side and I am going to double up and use 8 on each side for stronger winds, very happy...worth noting, I have tried cheaper copies of these and they simply are not worth it, it's false economy, these Dometic limpets are far superior in every way.

Limpet.
These do what they are suppose to, but any slight over tightening causes a breakage. I can’t say they are good value but at £20 these are a more acceptable price than £25 plus . Think it Would be much better if the screw in the centre could be much more robust. I do recommend this product purely due to a much more acceptable price than normal.

3rd pack of these things !
When they work, they are great, but... I have a similar system to connect towing mirrors to my car wing mirrors. I have had those for 10 years, they fix well as long as surface is dry and clean and you cannot overtighten them. The mirrors are left in the boot of the car after use without any special precautions. These Kampa ones I should have realised they were a bit suspect when the KAMPA salesman who sold them with the awning, went into a long spiel of, "Only do them up enough to secure, never over tighten them, always clean them after use, never store them in a cold place, never store them in a hot place, don't store them in the awning bag etc. At that point I switched off but should have realised how unreliable they were. Original ones I made sure, surface was clean and dry and fixed the awning flaps with the limpets. Brilliant they all worked and were actually very secure, didn't have to overtighten so pleased I had listened to the salesman. Between uses I stored them in my integrated garage which never gets too cold or to hot. At the end of the season I had been pleased with both awning and limpets. Start of next season, four of the eight originals had failed as per picture and were very sticky. Few swear words as I was already away so had to purchase another set from a local dealer. I was advised to return the faulty ones to KAMPA and did get 4 replaced, by which time, another two had failed. No real apology or reason for failure suggestion from KAMPA that it may be a batch problem. Over the next two seasons and probably only used them half a dozen times they all went the same way. Had to buy yet another set and this time went for a non branded version. They were actually identical and also failed. I spoke to PVC/Plastics repair company that repaired some tow along boat "donuts" and they basically said it is a reaction between the two types of plastic used between the thread and sucker. He suggested washing them before storing in light soap which I did. Hopefully he didn't think I was the sucker, but I have had to purchase this set as fed up returning to KAMPA . I write this review today as when I went away in December I thought I would check on all the caravan bits, and the clear bits on some had stuck to the black bits and the white threads were distorting at the bases. There is definitely some leaching of the oils in the plastic and looks like a design fault. I decided to take the "LIMPETS" on my car mirrors apart that are now 10 years old and the thread is a totally different plastin and no sign of failure. Come on Kampa step up and sort this please, I will be returning you the 18 failed ones I know have

Great idea!
The limpet system is brilliant and hasn't failed us yet. They are simple to use and holds the sides of the awning tightly to the caravan. Make sure your awning is compatible for the limpet system or you'll also need to buy a hole punch.

An alternative use
I thought I’d try these to aid retaining a stand alone awning for a Transit Connect van. The awning had straps to throw over the roof to peg down on the opposite side but the canopy between the awning and the van needed better retention. After some research I came across these things and thought they’d do the job. First attempt wasn’t successful as it transpired that they only work on very thin fabric. I’d tried them initially on a double thickness part of the canopy but they wouldn’t work. Moving to a single thickness they’ve done the job needed to hold the canopy onto the roof.
