Best cheap egg poacher on Amazon.
Ok, so if you're reading these reviews, you're probably trying to decide whether to buy this 4 egg poacher or the aluminium coated one that costs a couple of quid more. I've bought both (I'll be adding a review of the other one too which you'll be able to see is for a verified purchase as proof) and, in my opinion, this one is a better poacher. We bought this one first. My wife loves poached eggs but we never really did them at home as without an egg poacher it becomes a messy affair. I figured at £10, this poacher was worth a shot. It was an instant hit. It's very lightweight but the pieces go together well. It cooks eggs well, not too fast and was easy to clean. The plastic handles on the poaching cups are easy to pick up when cooking is done as they don't get too hot.Tip for any egg poacher by the way: Buy some cans of spray oil. They're sold on Amazon too and are awesome. Do a quick spray in each cup of your egg poacher and your eggs will come out far easier. We now have a higher end poacher and it still makes a real difference. Non stick only does so much. Now the only downside with this poacher is that if you forget to put water in, or leave it too long unattended, the cups will melt and it's a write off. If you use it correctly, this won't ever be an issue though and is worth the 'risk' as the eggs are cooked much better in this one than the other one. My wife didn't put enough water in and let it sit on the hob while waiting for bacon to cook which ended up causing it to self destruct. We then purchased the other one, which just isn't as good despite being made from metal and costing more. The other one is poorly built, doesn't fit together well, the screws holding the handles on the cups come undone, the handles themselves get very hot and it cooks eggs too fast. It was very hard to get good eggs with a runny centre done with it.How to best use this poacher:1) Boil kettle.2) Spray each cup with oil.3) Put eggs in.4) Carefully lift one cup out and through the hole, pour in enough boiling water that it just touches the bottom of the other egg cups.5) Put the cup you're holding back in, put the lid on and light the hob. We used the smallest burner on our hob at max power but your mileage may vary.6) Cook to preference. We used this poacher at least twice a week for seven months before we killed it. We then bought the metal one and used that for a month and a half before retiring it and have now bought the big more expensive six egg poacher as we love our poached eggs and wanted to try a quantity cooker!I hope this helps!

Egg poacher
Good size poacher fits 4 eggs lovely, sturdy construction found thatv the eggs stick a little but with a small amount of butter stops that

Beautiful product. Great value.
Excellent, once you have worked out how it works. It takes about 8 minutes to produce the best possible poached eggs, faultless and enjoyable.

Non stick poacher
Pan dented. Poacher tray damaged. Doesn't affect performance but a tad annoying. Maybe this is why it was cheap. Works very well though.

Not fit for purpose. Dangerous. Don't waste your money on this rubbish poacher.
Oh dear.. where to start? Firstly, the lid wasn't vented, so the steam from the simmering water couldn't escape, generating more heat, which caused water to boil up through the slotted cup plate, washing into the eggs, creating a foaming mess which boiled over, even on minimal simmer. The cup plate is a very lightweight aluminium alloy which slipped and tilted in the pan if the lid was removed during use. There's no central nub to lift the plate up to readjust it. This rendered the product unmanageable and dangerous with simmering water foaming up through the steam holes.I couldn't take the lid off without the plate slipping, spilling eggs.I couldn't leave the lid on because it was all boiling over, even with half an inch of water in the pan.The egg cups were too small for anything other than small/medium eggs. The plastic is brittle and thin, very lightweight.I bought this as an inexpensive second pan for when we have poached eggs and I'm not still doing mine when everyone else has eaten theirs.By the time I'd finished trying to rescue my food from this nasty joke of a poacher, my OH had long finished and had come into the kitchen to snigger at my efforts at trying to cook with this piece of Poundland junk."Quality gear you've got there, Mags!"I got scalded fingers from trying to rescue my supper. I ended up with just toast. It took ages to clean the hob top.I've been using egg poachers for more years than I care to own up to, but I've never used one as useless as this.

Lovely soft yolks
I was looking for the old fashioned poaching pan, the type my mum used to have, I found it with this purchase. Used it a number of times and always perfect poached eggs, everytime .

Lid comes off
Good but the lid comes off when boiling and water spills over.
