Unsafe for children, big dogs etc.
Pro: The manufacturing on mine was adequate considering the price and no pieces were missing. They are easy to assemble though on my pair one of the screw holes had a slight bur (easily rectified) likely caused by a splash from the welding of the end caps to the tubes. Stands such as these stands certainly help the sound of the speakers. They do not occupy a lot of floor space which is partly good in the right environment.Con: The top platforms are a bit small for a normal size bookshelf speaker. Likewise, the bases are too small. In combination, these are extremely unstable. There is not enough space in the stands to fill with enough sand (or even lead shot) to address this problem. They must not be used in the presence of rambunctious dogs, children or drunks -- a heavy speaker falling a child or dog is likely to inflict significant injury.Net: Not recommended.Alternative: The "Pyle Dual Studio Monitor 2 Speaker Stand", adjustable in height, with tripodal bases that can be adjusted to provide a much larger footprint which is the key to correcting the problem with these DR Pro stands. Oh, and they are half the price. Yes they do look a little industrial but they are substantially safer.

Almost
These could be very nice stands--they just need to improve the quality control. When I took mine out of the box, one of the corners of one of the wood columns was smashed in a bit. Oh well, I'll put that corner in the back and it won't be too noticeable. The bigger problem is the metal columns came shorter than the wood columns (the stands are each made up of two square metal columns surrounded by an H-shaped column of veneered particle board), meaning if you try to tighten it all together, there will be a gap (no gasket seal on top) and you'll likely split the top wood piece around the washers. To solve this problem, I ordered an EPR Sheet, 60 Durometer, Black, 3/32" Thick, 12" Width, 12" Length (cheapest black sheet rubber of suitable thickness I could find), cut eight 1.5" squares of it with a utility knife, used a hole punch to put a hole in the center of each, and stacked them two high on top of each metal column before putting the top gasket and platform on. While not ideal, they fill in and seal the gap well enough and don't look bad if you happen to sit on the floor and look up at them. I still had to be careful not to overtighten the bolts. For fill, I shopped around and settled on cat litter as the cheapest convenient option--Home Depot's sand had accrued some moisture, so I went to Walmart and grabbed a 20-lb jug of Cat's Pride scoop litter, which is cheap, fine enough to funnel through the 3/8" fill holes (you need a small funnel), and comes in an easy-to-pour jug. It ended up taking about half the jug to fill the columns. Not as much weight as sand or shot, but the metal no longer resonates, and that's what matters most.Other info: The stands are just over 37" tall including the foam pads and rubber feet or carpet spikes (it includes both, as well as vinyl feet to go under the spikes on a hard floor, and cable clips you can adhere to the back). The feet/spikes screw in to the bottom of the stands, so you can level them, and they seem sturdy. I didn't use the included pads, as I already had some Auralex Monitor Isolation Pads, which raise the speakers another 2" (not ideal when the stands are already 1" too tall--I might need to get a taller chair) but should provide better isolation and support. (The included pads reduce the supporting surface from 8" x 9" to about 6" x 7". The Auralex pads are the perfect width at 8".)Overall, for $100 a pair shipped plus ~$12 for rubber and cat litter, they are probably more stable and look nicer in my studio than the cheaper ($70/pair) SMS-6000 stands I was going to get, although the "maple" finish on these doesn't match that of my Studio RTA Creation Station Studio Desk (the latter's is a tad darker/redder). I'm not sure how these compare to the more expensive American Recorder Technologies version, which appears to be identical minus the foam pads and plus a longer warranty (lifetime instead of 5-year).

Quality control could use some work?
It's nice, mine was missing the rubber gaskets that a lot of other people have noticed as missing. I still like them, and to me they are the perfect height.
