Sturdy but beware
This is the correct replacement part, but beware the Sales pitch. It is not as simple a job as made out to be. This is borne out by the fact that there is a very sturdy device on the market made to assist. In any case an excellent way to recycle / repair an office chair whose only problem is the seat attachment. The same remarks cover the gas lift piston which should probably be replaced at the same time.

Saved my rather expensive chair from the dump, what a bargain.
My old, and rather expensive, chair was on its last legs. It was hanging on like a loose tooth hangs, one sharp movement and it was going to be game over. So, balancing as carefully as I could I sat on it and did some research and found that my wobbly chair was most likely caused by the failure of this part. I bought it, got it next day, Saturday, thanks to prime. Put it to one side as it was going to be a job to do mid week. Well the chair had other ideas and upon seeing I had bought a new part it decided to fail in dramatic fashion dumping me and my heavy set figure on the floor. What Luck!, well not exactly the words I used at the time but still, I am glad it waited for the part to come.Super duper easy to fit.Get a hammer, because you are going to have to knock the old on off most likely. Just keep sliding the hammer up the pole, tapping the bush that is still on. Turn it as you go, oh, and make sure you are not aiming it at anything breakable because it will probably shoot off with a ping when it finally goes. Turn tap, turn tap, turn tap.... ping.Take the bolts out of the old one on the bottom of the seat. Shove this on in its place, making sure you have it the right way around or you will spend the rest of your computer time sitting like the Fonz (for the kids out there, this means backwards on your chair looking cool).Once it is bolted on, just put it over the pipe, push it down a bit and sit on it...congratulations, you have just fixed your chair... Mine was a £200 chair so as you can imagine I am extremely pleased... and proud too of the handy little job I have done.Good Luck, and remember to measure before buying.UPDATE... 11/12/15 --- Just over 12 Months and still hasn't dumped me on the floor yet. Just weighed myself and I am 18 stone, or 115kg for those modern folks, also keep in mind that I often fall asleep in my chair, reclined with my feet up on the desk so I am not exactly giving it an easy life. There is a little bit of a wobble now, but nothing serious. I reckon in about another year (2 yrs total) it will be time for another repair,,, unless I lose a few inches of flab in which case I might get longer out of it.

Lasts approximately two years
From looking at other reviews and my experience now of this, it lasts about two years before the weld fails holding the receiving socket to the bracket. So it depends on what your goals are - it fits my chair fine, is easy to put together, and it lasts roughly this long before you need a new one.
