Don't watch this during the pandemic
I wouldn't go so far as to say this movie is bad. It's well structured and well acted. There are, however, no surprises of any kind. Its main characteristics are sadness and inevitability.Writing this in the middle of a pandemic, in a nation which by some measures has the highest death rate of any country at this moment, I'm annoyed by the movie's self-indulgent pessimism about human nature.Chiefly, it treats love as a weakness in the cruel battle against nature... yawn. It's somewhat offensive, but also, all this movie did was make me sad with nothing rewarding to counterbalance that.Maybe this movie would have passed normal times, but in the current atmosphere it is not worth watching.

Slow burn kept me gripped
While this film is a slightly slow burn and some of the acting could have been stronger, I found the film generally unsettling. It isn't out and out horror but it does enough to keep you on your teas. The film has a brilliant atmosphere and it is shot beautifully. Well worth a watch.

Little horror but plenty of menace, tension and intrigue - watch it
This is not a horror film so I get why people have negative opinions of this film probably based on unrealistic expectations. It does though have a good script and cast and atmosphere and tension and menace and there are a few scary bits but its definitely not a Hollywood blood bath type film though there is some gore. I liked it both at the cinema and on bluray which for me at least is a sign of a watchable and entertaining film. I would definitely recommend watching this film as it is well made, well acted and entertaining (though not what you would call a feel-good film!)

Gripping and sad tale
A good film. Joel Edjerton is a particularly engaging a actor and the boy who plays his son is excellent. Sad, moving and evocative of these times. Worth a watch if you have a brain.

Gripping film out in the woods
This is not really a horror film. It’s more of a thriller which plays into people’s inner fears, mistrust and paranoia. The film takes place after an apocalyptic event; a virus that has wiped out most of the population and centres on a family’s desire to survive and create some sort of normality in the aftermath. The family live in a remote and boarded up house in the woods, some distance from main population centres. They are always on a high state of alert as they survive from day to day. At night they retreat to their boarded up house and spend time quietly with each other, carefully listening for any movement outside. One night there is a break in and things will never be the same again. It’s a slow burning film but no less gripping for it. It’s interesting to see trust and relationships break up. A sense of paranoia and foreboding sets in amongst the the main characters, developing into a grim vision of a world falling apart. It’s quite unsettling to watch at times but thoroughly engrossing and had my family talking about it for quite a while after the film had ended. Highly recommended.

A solid and tense horror
It Comes At Night will leave you tense and on the edge of your seat. The questions it doesn't answer and the ambiguity as to what is and isn't going on complement rather than hinder what will likely rank as one of the better horror movies of 2017. This isn't for those who want all-out action and neatly wrapped up stories, but for those looking for horror that lingers long after the end credits, It Comes At Night is for you.

Wasn't quite what I was expecting
This film does have a lot going for it, but in other ways it disappointed a little. This is not really a horror film, despite what the trailer may indicate. This film is about tension and paranoia and the result is disturbing. It does those things extremely well. The first few minutes will leave you feeling uneasy.I thought the actors were good. It's a well shot movie, but just wasn't quite what I was expecting.

Unsettling slow burner
A brooding horror rather than 10 Cloverfield meets Evil Dead. Not at all frightening but a little unsettling. Its very much a slow burner so wont be to everyone's taste. I didn't get the 'RED DOOR' so if someone could clue me in and I believe the title refers to the nightmares suffered by the lead character, which come at night..
