Excellent super bright 'generation 3' LED torch couldn't ask for anything more to light up the dark on the way home. When I say this Maglite is bright it is extremely bright. The photo cannot do it justice. The distance when scoped is long and definitely around 300 metres + This is a full size 2D cell battery torch. It is big but not overly big, easily fits in a bag, it's quite heavy but not too heavy. I presume the 3D cell will be too heavy for long walks but this is manageable. It's also a great safety tool, bright light and heavy impact if ever required. I no wonder it's a favourite of the NYPD in close conditions if required. These next generation LED torches are worth the upfront expense approx £50 if you personally ask me, just for the superior light alone, longer battery life and you also have a true quality product being Maglite. made in the U.S.A : )

This is a fantastic torch and really brings Maglite upto date. Don't get tripped over in comparing lumens with other Chinese cheap lights at 1/5th the cost. This is as bright as my cars headlights on main beam thanks to maglite years of expertise in this field. The trademark focusing system works a treat and gives you either a huge flood light or a powerful spot that reaches 100's of meters out. I have upgraded mine with a Weltool striker bezel which I sprayed black, as well as a glass breaker spike which is hidden under a double screw tail cap. Also a toughened glass lens is also available from weltool that I reccomend. For batteries I use NiMh rechargeables. Currently using Powerowl branded 10,000mah cells, however about to change to using Eneloop Pro in triple AA to D parallel adapters. Overall this is a monster light that will provide more than you'll ever need. With a little imagination I am sure it would make an effective self defence deterrent as well.

A global item that turned out to be less expensive that the identical UK version. Exactly what I wanted and pleased with it for what I consider is a good price. As it had such a long way to come it could have done with a bit of packaging to stop its original box being completely wrecked. Fortunately didn't need to keep the box. Love it. :)

My first reaction when I came across this torch was, who would be mad enough to spend £50 on a torch; clearly myself! I purchased one for a specific reason. In a successful effort to lose weight, I started speed walking in the dark winter nights using paths and tracks in the countryside only lit by moonlight. Even with the standard Maglite LED equivalent torch (which is satisfactory for most uses) I found that the beam was not powerful enough, and I needed to feel more secure in isolated areas in the pitch black. The maximum power beam of the Maglite ML300L-S3016 3D LED torch is brighter than the head lights of my car on full beam; perhaps not so wide but certainly more powerful! I compared them side by side on an object at two hundred metres. Full power is truly awesome for a hand held torch and it is difficult to comprehend how you could find anything better. A word of caution: When approaching others in the dark, power down the beam. It really can be dazzling for others when it is on full beam; as a cyclist complained to me when he passed without any lights on! As he approached out of the dark in surprise, I shone the light on him and he said he couldn't see anything. To be riding without lights in the dark he must of had eyes like an Owl! I couldn't see much without the torch. There is a range of different power settings that can be used but they have to be selected in quick succession by clicking fast the on/off button, and it can be easy to overshoot the setting needed; something that can take time to master. The torch can be set up from the lowest power setting first, to the highest power setting last or visa versa. I kept mine at the factory set, highest power beam first. To put the light power in to perspective, I would say that the lowest power beam is roughly equivalent to that of the standard Maglite LED torch equivalent. Given the high price of this torch, it would not be advisable to store even good quality Alkaline batteries in it for any extended period. Leaking Alkaline batteries will kill a Maglite torch stone dead, as I learned from a previously owned smaller Maglite Torch. To lower the risk I intend to convert to the Duracell Recharge Ultra batteries. When I have done this I will update the review with my experience. In summary; a high quality torch that offers an awesome beam with a choice of power settings to extend the life of the batteries. The downside is the high investment cost; hence the four star rating. Hopefully in time the technology will become cheaper to produce.

My 3rd Maglite, but led version is a game changer - Bright (very) better battery life, very robust and water resistant. What's not to like!

The reason I have Given this product Only 3 stars is because of the price, I have another 3 cell LED Maglite which cost around £30, and in my opinion, the cheaper one is as good if not better, the cheaper model is several inches longer and heavier but more notable is the beam range which seems to be far better on the cheaper model, unlike this particular model which seems just light up the whole area without the option to focus into a smaller more pinpoint searchlight effect, it's a well-built torch with The different light modes starting from very bright to bright then dim, another Typical Great Quality built Torch from Maglight, however you can get the same qauilty Maglite for less than half the price

Don't underestimate the power of this torch it is brilliant. In pitch black country lanes this provides more light than a car on full beam. Hard to believe but it made me laugh when I used it the first time on a winter evening ramble. Don't be put off by the price it's worth every penny.

Such a great light, bright and sturdy. The batterys last a long time once you get good quality ones. Used on the middle setting it lasts for hours.

Pour la torche, elle est vraiment bien : - puissante avec un réglage du faisceau en tournant le bout - polyvalente avec plusieurs choix de mode d'utilisation (rester appuyer, économie, sos, ...) - solide et anti-rayures avec sa matière métal Son seul défaut pour le moment est son prix mais c'est une torche qui doit durer un long moment donc bien investi !

Extremely bright flashlight that his made very well and lasts a very long time, the overall weight and length feels just fine. I think the d4 would be too heavy / long for every day use. The 3d seems perfect.

No conozco una linterna de la alta calidad de Maglite con tres pilas D que produzca una escala tan potente de luces y solidez constructiva como este modelo ML300L de 3º generacion. La ventaja de las pilas talla D es la gran cantidad de reserva electrica que acumulan con lo que te puedes beneficiar de un run time elevado en comparacion con otras pilas de menor capacidad. Puedes conseguir monopilas de hasta 10000mAh. Otra ventaja de esta firma es que sus modelos de linterna se mantienen con el paso del tiempo, suelen emplear pilas que se encuentran en cualquier comercio del mundo y no cambian cada dos años de estilo pero admiten mejoras tecnologicas. Considero esta linterna como muy luminosa, fiable, duradera y util.

Hele fijne zaklamp, schijnt ver en heeft ook een optie om de lichtbundel te focussen. Is de tweede mag-lite die ik koop. De eerste had na zo'n 8 jaar gecorrodeerde batterijen, die ik er niet meer uit kon halen. Hopelijk gaat deze langer mee. (Ik had deze gekocht voor de vakantie, maar de zaklamp werd bij een van de buren afgeleverd. Ik kreeg daar geen melding van en ging zonder zaklamp op reis. Baalde stevig toen ik na terugkomst vernam, dat de zaklamp al 4 dagen vóór vertrek bij de buren (oude mensen) lag. Deze review met 5 sterren geldt dus niet voor Amazon! Tip voor Amazon: stuur svp een mail sturen als een bestelling elders wordt afgeleverd. Bol doet dit wel netjes.)
