Le Creuset 4-Layered Textile Handle Glove, Stain Resistant, Black, 95001400000000

I chose these pot handle gloves because I have a pair of Le Creuset pot mitts which are about 15 years old and still going strong (though I would love Le Creuset to start making them again please so that I could get some new ones!) I correctly assumed that these pot handle gloves would be of similar quality. Using my pot mitts as a guide I fully expect these to last a decade. I moved from an induction hob, where my metals pan handles remained cool, to a gas hob when we moved house. Now the pan handles get really hot and these handle gloves are so helpful to stop me burning myself. I learned from painful experience that the handles of my pots get hot really quickly on the gas hob so I now just slip one of these gloves on as soon as I put the pan down on the hob and I can't feel any heat through them at all. My pan handles are 5cm wide at the end and 2cm deep and these gloves fit perfectly. I think they would be thick enough to grip a narrower handle and there is room enough to cope with a slightly larger handle too.

One would expect no less from Le Creuset - including the steep price tag - but to be fair, this little handle is a neat, useful and stylish tool that helps you move your prized skillets around safely and easily without scorching your hands.

Metal handled saucepans really get hot, but this perfectly stops all the heat. Even works on pans put in the oven. Highly recommend

Quite expensive for what it is, but it’s thick, fits nicely on a pan handle and is safer on the stove than a tea towel or bulky oven glove.

Fantastic bit of kit that I didn’t know existed. Perfect for those hot handles. Great quality and good size.

Unfortunately the company supplying my Cast skillet has let me down (can't wait to review them) and it's now due 30th July! So I'm going to review this without trying it. Now, I already own Le creuset oven gloves and they are the same materials so I'll assume heat resistance will be similar. What I really want to say is how fantastic this looks (I bought the red one). It's hanging in an obvious place just so I can show it off. Really well made, looks fantastic. Worth owning just to have hanging up in the kitchen, even if you don't have a cast skillet (like me).

Great to use with a Cast iron skillet, fits around the handle no problem and a lot safer than using a tea towel.

Bought this as I've used others in the past and have been pleased. I'm terrible for getting pans out of the oven and then burning myself on them shortly after. In that respect it works well. What it doesn't do too well is block the heat for extended periods of time. If you've had a pan in a very hot oven then this will allow you to take it out but not hold it for extended periods - for example for pouring the fat off the top. It's also not the most grippy so on my smallish diameter handles it does rotate a bit when pouring.
