What is the difference between the pouch and the can version of the same product?

The container is the only difference. They both contain the same weight of the acacia senegal soluble powder. The "can" cantainer is easier to keep and measure from, but the soft pack is cheaper. I bought the can type first and keep it to empty the soft packages into when I order additional refills.

Is this item easy to use?

A person recommended 2 heaping teaspoons as a dose. You need to read the instructions as to the amount that is good for you. It helps both IBS-D and IBS-C. I have used this for years and only use 1/2 tsp for IBS-D. Yes it is easy to use.

Is this product suitable for young children?

Hi Mark,Not recommended for children under 12 years old without the supervision of a Doctor. There is no toxin in it but it can cause diarhyrea as it acts like any other fiber.

does it act also as a stool softener? thanks!

Hello - the Tummy Fiber will relieve and help prevent constipation, but through different actions than a stool softener. Soluble fiber works by regulating motility of the bowel, and normalizing water content in the bowel as well. For this reason it works for both diarrhea and/or constipation. It is not a drug or a laxative, so fundamentally different from stool softeners in that regard, and without any of the side effects stool softeners may have. For the Tummy Fiber Acacia to work properly, it's crucial that you start with a low dose (1/2 teaspoon twice daily) and gradually increase to a dose high enough to resolve constipation (which may be 3-5 tablespoons a day total, if you resolve at a lower dose just stay there). If you get gas or bloating, that means that you increased your dose too quickly. It can take several weeks to gradually increase up to the dose you'd likely need to resolve constipation, and unfortunately you can't rush this. Tummy Fiber is not a drug or a laxative so it won't work overnight. I really feel for the constipation folks, since it takes some patience to start slowly, increase gradually, and eventually get your daily dose high enough to resolve symptoms. A lower dose can't worsen constipation, but it won't resolve it, either. Having the fiber at least twice a day - and you can have it more often - is also key, as you want to keep your gut filled with soluble fiber at all times. That will help prevent cramping and spasms in the first place.Best,Heather
