465 pages of relatively timeless education
A very comprehensive, informative and well laid-out guide that provides diagrams of each mechanism in a 'Haynes Manual'-style format that is both well labeled, easy to read, understand, and refer to whilst reading or tinkering. There is an introductory section listing and explaining all the tools it recommends for the level of work you want to undertake yourself (depending on your budget, workspace and commitment). I'm confident that once I invest in the correct tools and invest my time in following these guides, I'll be gratuitously proficient in bike mechanics and confident in my aspiration to cycle to Greece without crying. FYI, there are 465 pages, its rather dense. Includes sections on wheel-building and even on-the-go kit recommendations!

A good all-round maintenance manual
As a beginner in doing my own bike maintenance, I felt I needed a thorough book that would cover all possibilities, but wasn't too technical. This seems the ideal blend, with plenty of information, lots of diagrams, and easy-to-understand text. Any words or terms I didn't understand are explained in other parts of the book. There is a comprehensive index, and a section on basic tasks such as all-over cleaning and checking of brakes, chain, etc., as well as much more on complicated tasks. My only problem with it isn't really the book's fault, as the gear system on my bike isn't included in this particular one, because I think I have what's called a "hybrid" bike. I may need to get the Zinn book on that type to get the information I need. Otherwise, a very good purchase!

Covers just about everything!
This book has helped me easily resolve some issues with my new bike and given me the confidence and know-how to keep it running smoothly. I dont have much mechanical experience, and I now feel confident I can give just about any job a go and select the right parts and tools for the job. That is everything I was looking for in this book, so I really cant fault it.

Tells you pretty much everything!
Given the lock-down status of the country I thought it would be a good time to start looking at maintaining my by myself rather than always relying on others. I bought this book as a guide to the parts I know nothing about and, so far, it's very impressive. It's not a book that just covers the basics, plus there seems to be sections for all the different options for brake set ups, groupsets, etc.Impressive.

A terrific bike maintenance book for novice and expert alike
This book is great. Easy to follow, great illustrations and comprehensive instructions. The difficulty system allows you to decide if you're able to embark on the task or not.As a relative maintenance novice, I've found this book really useful so far and I rarely have to use the services of a shop now. Covers everything from simple gear indexing to complete overhauls.
