Perfect budget laptop for students and common daily tasks:)
I have been using this laptop for 2 months so far. Fantastic laptop when looking at quality/price ratio, I would say that the functionality of this laptop overcomes the price. The laptop is also quite fast so can easily do more tasks in one go due to its specifications.Screen delivers pretty decent picture when watching movies or browsing but wish could adjust brightness through the keyboard but not a big issue (if you have figured out how to do it let me know:)Camera does its job and is all right when Skyping with friends - no issues so far.Sound could be a little bit better as it does not perform as expected but fine for daily tasks. Anyway, plugged in my speakers or headphones and problem has been solved;).Speed of the laptop is impressive, no problems with loading whatsoever. Combination of this laptop and fibre broadband brings effortless browsing without interruption.I have been surprised how light and thin this laptop is. Its so easy to carry it around.Battery lasts approximately 4 hours (from my own experience) depending on tasks I do so be mindful when going for longer trips. When only reading on a lower brightness without background applications then a battery life can hit nearly 6 hours. The laptop is very quite, does not make any noise whatsoever when cooling inside. Does not overheat so can place it in my lap and write for hours. In overall this is a perfect laptop for a student or common daily tasks (emails, youtube, movies, essays). Very satisfied with this product and the price paid for it.

Returned as the processor is not powerful enough to support the OS / HD display. Was generally very slow, even unresponsive at times, when performing basic tasks.

One Star initially, 3 stars now
Some keyboard keys have stopped working - can't successfully enter MS password - so won't allow me access. August 2017Updated review - October 2017 - the keyboard glitch I experienced was possibly due to a Windows 10 upgrade that had not completed as the keyboard is now fully functioning. The trackpad is a little sluggish on occasion but the screen and general usability of the HKC is perfectly acceptable 1 * -> 3*stbh it's good value for the price

A little budget winner, perfect for office work and web browsing
I paid with my own money for this laptop, I hate all those "I got a free sample here's a totally unbiased review". This is my opinion as a student, and the only reason i'm writing this review is because I got an email prompting me and I felt like writing a review for this neat little laptop.I bought this laptop as a general note taking laptop for lectures, and as a general light-use laptop. For the price of £169.99 it is a very nice laptop, with good performance and battery life, as well as a full 1080P screen. It is also very, very light. Which could be seen as positive or a negative, depending on the user. One of my friends commented that it feels like nothing is on your lap while you are using it, which is very true. I personally like the lightweight of it.The laptop is made of some quite cheap-feeling and tacky silver plastic, but none of the plastic has broken yet, and with a laptop this cheap I hardly expected quality materials. The plastic does its job and from a distance it looks quite nice, a few people even asked if I had gotten a MacBook, clearly they hadn't inspected the laptop that much as there is a great big "HTC" label below the screen. The cheap quality of the plastic also contributes the lightness of the laptop I guess. The Keyboard is okay. It's full size with spaces between the keys. I wouldn't call it an amazing typing experience, but then it's not awful either. It doesn't have the classic "tap tap" noise of normal laptop keyboards, more of a spongey sort of button noise. However I have had far worse typing experiences than this one, from laptops that cost a great deal more. How well the keyboard lasts however is a different matter. I've only had the laptop a few weeks so I will have to come back and edit this review in a few months to update. The Screen is very nice for this price. A full 1080P Panel, not overly bright but is very sharp. The screen has a matte finish, not a glossy one. It's very matte, almost looks like a kindle screen. It's very high detail though, and has good viewing angles.Battery is good, lasts a good few hours from full charge.Temperature-wise the laptop gets very hot while charging and under heavy load, the laptop doesn't have any fans so there is not much that can be done to cool it. The lack of fans does make the laptop silent however, which is nice as my old Dell laptop used to make a massive noise from the fan when it got hot.Wi-Fi is good and gets a strong signal from the router, although it only goes up to 25mb/s, whereas my phone while sitting next to the laptop gets 52mb/s.Performance is nice, quad core does multi-tasking well. Struggles a bit with games, but that is to be expected with the 1080P scree, and to be honest I bought this laptop to write lecture notes, but I'll probably end up playing stardew valley on it anyway.Overall a very nice laptop for the price, definitely a solid buy for a student wanting to write lecture notes, or a parent wanting to buy their child a laptop to browse the web and do homework on etc.
