I bought these to put in a bunch of survival kits that I’m helping people assemble, it would be nice of these had the aiming hole in the center which is what a good signal mirror has, but for the price they were definitely adequate. They are made of metal so they are very strong, but I would suggest you store them in a little fabric sleeve of some sort so they don’t get scratched Which would reduce the reflectiveness if they did. I use these on my boat to look behind corners, or tough to reach places. Works great, nice having 10 of them so I can leave one in various toolboxes, and not worry much about misplacing them. Acrylic - scratches easily, but I didn't expect any different. Out of the package, one side is scuffed, the other is protected by a thin piece of removable plastic. Pull that off to expose the mirror surface.

One side shows reflections at 50% of their original size, while the other shows reflections at 200% of their original size. I would have liked a mirror that reflects objects at their actual size. They clean up better than metal mirrors; however, they constantly need cleaning, and cleaning them contributes to their brittleness. One mirror lasts, on average, about nine days before it snaps in half, less if kept in a pocket or backpack where it is constantly bending. It does not take much pressure to snap them in half—a tenth less than the pressure needed to snap a flat toothpick.

These are LARGE, larger than I needed, which means that I can cut them in half across the width, and get two mirrors from one. Needed for compact survival kit, and more than adequate. BOTH sides are reflective, and protected by a film that is removed before use. Remove only one side, and when over time that side becomes to scratched for use..., use the other side by removing the film there, then.

I got these mirrors to make a quiet book page with a symmetry activity for my toddler. They are great for little hands and have a hole punched in them which was convenient for a ribbon. They seem durable and so far haven't gotten scratched. Also, heads up, when they arrive they have a peel off film on (so don't panic, k?).

REI wants practically this much for two. The REI mirrors aren't two sided!
