In person it looks more plastic-y than the more glasslike images, but it's also a darker green than the images, which helps (at least imo). I do recommend green over white/gray, since dirt that falls through is less noticeable. It doesn't feel flimsy - it's not extremely thick, but it's enough for small plants. Also, the lightness enables hanging it up from curtain rods without bending them over time. (Mine is the 5.3 inch, so I can't say how the 8.3 would hold up though.) Overall I love it! For me, it's exactly what I was looking for.

I love the look of these! Even though they are plastic, they look really nice. The self watering feature works well. The inside piece can easily slip in when adding water to the bottom, that would be the only negative (and it’s not even a big issue).

This flower hanging pot has a good color and looks attractive in any space. It is lightweight but feels strong, and it holds plants well. The simple design makes flowers stand out nicely, and it is easy to hang both indoors and outdoors. However, it is a little pricey. Overall, it’s a nice-looking pot if you don’t mind paying a bit extra.

The best feature of these planters is the ability to water my plants from below (the biggest issue I've had with house plants is "root rot" - often resulting in a once healthy plant suddenly covered in a ton of yellowing leaves). Definitely use the rope cuttings supplied. Until your plant's roots start making their way down through the container into the water - when you might want to start thinking about replanting in a bigger container anyway - the rope definitely helps in pulling up moisture. I also think the both the color (emerald-green) and design of the planters are very attractive. I'm using one of the planters on a desk (removed the hook and chain entirely) and another as a hanging planter, and both are working well. My only complaint (and I think another reviewer already mentioned this) is the difficulty you might have in getting water into the well below the container. You're going to have to lift the entire plant out of the planter (unless, as someone else suggested, you drill a hole). This is relatively easy for the planter I have on the desk, but a little more unwieldy for the hanging plant. And, as they both grow bigger and heavier, it might become a bit more of a problem. Still, all-in-all I'm very happy with the planters and would purchase again.

The 6.5 size was good for planting a 1 pint sized starter plant cube from the store. As others have pointed out, before use the white inner pot should probably be spray-painted to match the outer pot color, but I was too excited to remember to do that and it still looks fine inside the green outer shell. The plastic looks as expected and the package arrived quickly.

These hanging planters look really nice and are a good size, but the self-watering feature isn’t as effective as I hoped. The design is cute and they’re sturdy enough, but the water reservoir doesn’t hold much and the wicking system doesn’t always keep the soil evenly moist. I still find myself having to water manually to make sure my plants don’t dry out. They work fine as regular hanging pots, just not the best if you truly need low-maintenance selfwatering.

Bought these to try and save some clippings from a 25 year old plant. The idea was to have them small enough to hang from the curtain rod in a south facing window. These worked perfectly for the revival, the plant clippings thrived and have been transplanted to a large pot. The self watering feature is great, especially with these since you can see the water level and know exactly when they need watering. The size was perfect and they have a sturdy hanging chain. Adding water was tricky because the clippings were of a vining plant, which made taking out the actual pot with the plant from the water bowl a challenge without harming the plant. If your careful it's not a big deal. The ease of seeing the water level and knowing when to add water overrides that minor challenge.
