I used it for a domestic bedroom door in a similar way to a bathroom lock but with some added security. I would not particularly recommend the design of this particular lock but it's features are hard to come by elsewhere in this design. The thumb turn can be operated whether the key is in or not. If the lock is fitted as in the pictures (the right way up aesthetically) the lock operates in an unintuitive direction. There is even an arrow labeled 'up' indicating the lock should be fitted upside down so something went amiss in the design of this lock which doesn't inspire confidence in the product. Also the key can only be removed in one position although it is possible to lock and unlock an still remove the key somehow. I still haven't quite fully understood this yet. I was trying to match the 57mm backset of the main door handle and the minimum 60mm of this lock looks near enough in practice. There is some fiddling to do if you want to open it out to 70mm and the instructions don't help. As others have said the instructions are not particularly helpful and the template included on the packaging appears to be at half scale so completely useless. I think you might be getting the picture now. In summary I guess it's OK if you require these features at this price point and you the key is only going to be used occasionally. The thumb turn action is fine for domestic use.

I am giving it 1star because there is no option to give less. I am pretty competent when it come to tasks like fitting locks to doors but this piece of kit was poor from the off. The instructions are useless. The supplied template drawing not to scale. The screws cheap and insufficient for the job. The lock itself only locks with the key in it, which renders it useless. Removing the key, yes i saw that the lock had to be back in its original position, was impossible. Having dismantled it and tried again the outside key rotated without turning the lock despite being properly fitted inside the door. Judging by the number of positive comments I can only surmise that quality control on these locks is poor to non-existent.

From its weight you can tell it is sturdy! Very satisfied with its quality and shining finish!

There are two things you should know about this lock. 1 - I like to turn the key as if the bolt is sitting on top of the key. Clockwise to lock a door that has its hinges on the left. If your hinges are on the right, the lock will end up looking upside down, but will function okay. Its not a problem, unless you are fussy about aesthetics. 2 - The lock operates like no other lock I've used. You turn the key to lock the door, and the turn the key all the way back to remove the key. Usually this feels like you are unlocking the door. It works best as an additional lock so you can unlock it desperately.

I love the lock but i think the lock opens the other way compared to other lock opening. You have to open it by turning the key round then turning it back to an angle then taking the key out. Its good if someone needs a lock for safety.

This is a good lock with the one exception. You only get 3 keys and you can’t get additional/replacement keys. If you have kids who lose things, I’d buy another lock
