Botanicals: 100 Postcards from the Archives of the New York Botanical Garden Cards – October 3, 2017

My frugal self has purchased postcards almost everywhere I've traveled. They make great mementoes. I believe I must have 600 or 700 in a shoebox, and I send them regularly to friends and family. One day I wanted some that weren't photos of locations, and I purchased these. OOOOOHHH they are nice. No "Hello from Hawai'i" or "Beautiful Norfolk VA" -- no, just some skillful artist's renditions of actual plants, plants I have and haven't known, plants that would make any recipient happy and calm. Firm card stock of good quality. Drawings have almost a throwback feel, which makes them extra nice. And who doesn't like to get a postcard?!? These should last me to the end of my life and beyond.

After spending quite some time looking just about everywhere for simple "Thank You" postcards, I FINALLY found these on Amazon. (I even looked on Amazon a while back, but never saw these until last week.) All I wanted or needed was pretty cards to include with the packages I post to my buyers on Ebay. Something simple, something tasteful. It is harder than one would think to find such a thing. Thank goodness someone put this box of cards together-----and at such a terrific price, too.I saw one "poison" plant card which I probably won't be sending to anyone. Too bad I didn't have this card when I sold my awesome old cobalt blue glass Owl Drug poison bottle a couple years ago. It would have been a great card to send with that little bottle.Such wonderful art on each and everyone of these cards. I have posted a photo of eight of my favorites for you to see-----and these are eight I picked out of only about 30 that I have looked at so far. It is an embarrassment of riches to have these sublime cards on hand.I love the address lines, too. Whenever I post a package, I make sure and write on a card what the item is being posted, along with the address. You never know when and how mail may get waylaid and the outside address destroyed.There is one problem that I foresee, however: I will spend too much time trying to decide on just the right card to share and it will be painful to give up many of these, as each one is splendid and deliciously enchanting in its own right.Buy these cards. You will love them, too.

Beautiful cards and wonderful quality.

These postcards are seriously BEAUTIFUL. I made a commitment at the beginning of the year to write one postcard every day and I'm so happy I ordered these. The quality is unmatched. The cards are thick, well made, and the designs are super tasteful - appropriate for literally anything: Birthdays, Thank Yous, Thinking of You's etc. I LOVE the matte finish, too. It's never fun to write on a shiny postcard that either smudges or doesn't even let you write in the first place. The writing side of the postcard is also great. I appreciate the lines for the address and it's a good amount of space to write. I usually can fit about 3-4 sentences. In short, HIGHLY recommend. I just ordered 3 more boxes so I have enough for my year-long commitment. :)

I’m obsessed with these cards! There are no repeat cards and the details are amazing. I use them as thank you notes, but it’s also a nice reminder to send snail mail to someone you haven’t heard from/spoken to lately.

I purchased these to do post card trades on online forums. The images on the postcards are beautiful. The cards themselves are very thick and high quality. They can even handle fountain pen ink without bleeding. I love the box that they come in. It looks pretty and helps storing them neatly without making a mess of cards everywhere.

These are nice postcards. I love flowers, so I was expecting to fall in love with them. But, I didn't. Oh, there's certainly nothing wrong with them. They are printed in lovely colors on a nice weight card stock, and there's room to write a short message. But, for me, at least, there's just too much white space. I really wanted a card with more elaborate flowers and far less white space. These cards contain lovely painted flowers, but for me, the flowers are too unusual, and there are far too many succulents, and I am not a fan of succulents. I wanted things like roses, wisteria, camellias, begonias, pansies, impatiens, petunias, and my favorite, peonies. You won't find any of those on these cards. If you like a lot of white space on your notecards, and if you like the more exotic flowers, then you're going to like these cards a lot more than I do. Even though they aren't my favorite, I will use them. I just wish there weren't so many!

The post cards are high quality. The illustrations are beautiful. Now I need a matching postcard stamp!
