The ducks are gone!
I tried everything to keep ducks out of my pool in Arizona, to no avail, until I bought these plastic balls. They work incrediblywell!! The only thing is, the rope provided is useless. The chlorine eats through it in a week and the rope falls apart. I replaced the rope with inexpensive plastic covered steel wire (ACE, home depot). Works perfect and it keeps them secure in the pool even in windy conditions.

Be sure to order enough to block access.
We have a second story balcony. It's relatively small, with room for a couple of wooden rockers plus another chair. Things were fine until the pigeons and doves (fed by a neighbor) discovered this was a handy place to perch--and poop. The backs of the rockers became their favorite perches. An hour with a pressure washer was required to clear the mess from furniture, floor and railings. After reading about a variety of deterrents, I ordered two packs of these balloons so that I could qualify for free shipping. Initially, my husband put up only three of the balloons, spacing them equally on the largest span. They kept birds out for not quite two days. Then the pigeons began to return, entering through the open (unguarded) ends of the balcony. My husband immediately hung two more balloons, one at each end. That seems to have done the trick. No pigeons or doves have settled in again, as shown by the lack of droppings. As the item description notes, these are about the size of beach balls. They come with mylar streamers and decals, both of which you have to attach yourself. You will also needs little eyelets to screw into the ceiling or whatever you are attaching them to, as well as some kind of cord. PROS: These are a relatively cheap first thing to try. They are perhaps best suited to protecting a limited small space, such as our balcony. CONS: They do look a little goofy. I am not sure whether I would have put them up if this balcony were at the front of the house. Also, the mylar streamers do make some noise as they flutter in the wind. However, that's probably part of their effectiveness. WHY DON'T THEY WORK FOR EVERYONE? * You need to buy enough balloons, and space them closely enough. * You need to block all flight pathways. * You need a fairly steady wind, to keep the balloons moving about. Hawaii's tradewinds are ideal in this regard. We will see what happens when we lose the trades in September and October, at the end of summer. As several reviewers have noted, these won't last forever. They are just mylar balloons, after all. So, I expect we will need to replace them, perhaps even more than annually. But I definitely plan to keep enough on hand to put them back immediately. The cost is reduced by using the Super Saver Shipping option.

The perfect Fig Tree Bouncer/Protector
I bought these thinking, “Well, it’s worth a shot.” Well it worked cause they have exceeded expectations. Crows? Gone. Squirrels? Spooked. Me? Getting used to it The bright eyes and bold colors are apparently very persuasive in the animal kingdom. Since hanging them, my fig trees have finally had a chance to ripen in peace. No more daily drama with furry or winged thieves. Bonus: They add a festive flair to the yard — like a horror movie themed birthday party for those that don't mind eyes always watching.

High quality product--but simply don't work on my pigeons
These bird repellent items are of good quality--heavy vinyl and secure loops and fastenings. They've been up for about 6 weeks now. I have no problem with their quality, but unfortunately for me--pigeons simply are too dumb to care apparently. They stayed away from my bird feeders for the first afternoon and evening I put them up, but it was business as usual by the next morning with the pigeons under not only the feeders but under the hanging, spinning and flappy tailed beach balls. I have trees and a non-live wire going across the feeder area up high, so they've been hung at the proper places and we have plenty of wind to move them about. I've tried changing out colors, hanging them in different locations, higher and lower and every combination, but the pigeons just don't care. Well, for the price, the grand kids can play with them anyway as they are sturdy. I think they are a quality product and perhaps they work better on the ducks and other birds I read about other buyers using them on before purchasing mine--so I gave them a 4 star rating for their quality. I knew it was a shot in the dark whether they would work or not when I bought them--but they simply don't work on my pigeons. The pigeons need some shots at them in the daylight, but I live in a small city (town really) where you can't shoot so not sure what to try next. Don't want a dog!

Work well, bought more!
worked so well I bought 3 more! I originally bought one and saw a noticeable drop in bird droppings in the area around the ball (boat is a 48' catamaran with a lot of deck space). Bought three more so that I have coverage around the entire boat.

Doesn’t work , Save your money and buy dancing dolphin inflatable’s.
We have a community pool that has a constant duck problem. Feces in the water and on the surrounding deck. We currently have 12 of these balloons around the pool, four driveway reflector sticks and two large floating inflatable’s. All of these items were suggested on Google. The best thing that worked is an inflatable called the dancing dolphin. Don’t waste your money on anything else. The dolphin moves constantly and for the most scares the ducks away.

Didn't Work!
Got these in hopes of keeping two Canada Geese away from our association pool. They seemed to work for a couple of days but after that the geese were landing in our pool and creating a mess in spite of the scare balls. Our pool company put a robot vacuum in and that helped keep them away more than the balloons. If you're trying to keep geese away don't waste your money on these!

They are very effective in scaring birds away , but expect to check daily because with strong winds they sometimes get deflated and the string that ties them gets snapped. I use mine on the roof to discourage pigeons from setting house on the ledges.

Lovely to look at but NO scare factor. Fail to scare any birds. Disappointing and a waste of money!
