Nice size firestarter. You can attach the striker to the paracord strap by using the tip of a pair of scissors or a flat head screwdriver or you actually can just use the edge of the striker itself and gently separate the little black clasp at the end of the paracord strap. Then slide out the two ends of the paracord and place one end of the paracord through the hole on the end of the striker and replace both ends of the paracord back into the black plastic clasp and push down tightly to close. Hope this helps some of you.Tip; scrape some of the magnesium off the ferro rod onto the sticky side of a piece of duct tape so you don't lose the magnesium to the wind instead of a a tissue, paper or simply on a rock. Duct tape is a great firestarter on its own merit as it is flammable.

Seems to work really well throws alot of hot sparks.

It does spark well enough. Haven't used it in the wild as yet.I would like it better if the striker was attached via the same cord as the rod.I have other firestarter sets that have the striker attached to the same cord as the rod so you have less chance of misplacing it or Lose it. Definitely a plus if the striker is attached -- which this set does Not include. It does come with a drawstring pouch to keep it in as compensation for both parts not connected.
