Used last night for the first time when making some pizzas, long burning and kept my oven at a steady temperature. You can tell its great quality because there's almost no smell meaning they dont use crazy chemicals that would harm you. Huge bag, should last me a while, therefore it's a great value for the money!

Didn’t expect to like having charcoal delivered this much, but now I can’t imagine going back. I’ve been using Jealous Devil for months now—across dozens of cooks—and it’s never let me down. Whether I’m firing up the offset smoker for brisket or just doing a quick weeknight grill, it burns hot, clean, and long. The 35lb bag lasts a good while, and the quality of the chunks is way better than what you usually find at big box stores. It’s all dense, natural hardwood—no filler, no chemical smell, no popping—and the smoke profile adds a subtle, clean flavor to everything from chicken to ribs. The bag design is sturdy and easy to store, too. Only downside? It sells out fast, so I’ve learned to order ahead and keep an extra bag on hand. Overall, this is premium charcoal that performs like it belongs in a pro kitchen. If you grill or smoke regularly, this stuff is absolutely worth stocking up on.

Over the years I have experimented with a good number of “high end” and “restaurant grade” lump charcoal brands which are good but are typically priced so high that it was difficult to justify the expense. I have also frequently used the economy brands available at Walmart simply due to the lower price since I do a lot of grilling. I recently picked up a bag of Jealous Devil at Walmart, there among the “economy brands” priced just a few dollars more so I decided to give it a try. I have found Jealous Devil burns hotter and cleaner than any of the other premium brands I have tried, and obviously beats the pants off the economy brands (e.g Cowboy, Royal Oak, etc.) It has absolutely no sparks upon ignition, mostly large to medium chunks with very little dust at the bottom of the bag, and provides a good light smoke flavor. Based on the bag I picked up at Walmart, I decided to order this 35# bag online at Amazon. I expect the same performance. My only negative comment on the online order is that the bag was poorly packed into the shipping box with no padding, and thus arrived with several small tears which resulted in a small amount of messy black dust.

1st time using it and found it’s easy to light, minimal to no nasty smell, plenty of heat and just have to get used to burn times So far so good

I recently just converted back to charcoal from gas and wanted to find a good lump wood charcoal. Luckily I found it on my first try. I will never use another brand after using Jealous Devil. I've tried cooking everything on this (even slow cooked on my grill using a groker) and everything tastes so much better. This stuff burns HOT, which will help you get that nice sear that will make your grilling legendary. I love the fact that the wood is all different sizes, from smaller than typical coals to as big as softball, which is clutch if you need to add more to the fire and control temp. It also fires up faster, flares up a lot less, and produces almost no smoke or ash compared to store bought charcoal, which are always people's biggest complaints about charcoal grills. After using this for awhile, I have some tips that I have learned along the way. First, it's burned wood so it has a black residue on it that will make your hands black if you pick it up. I just use my BBQ gloves to solve this issue (you'll want a pair anyway for my next tip). Don't ever use fluid with this unless you want your food to taste like it. I have a Weber top pour type and Charbroil bottom release type chimney and I prefer bottom release. Like I said, this stuff gets hot, so the bottom release is easier and safer, but you'll want those BBQ gloves in either case. You probably will also want to use a 2 zone or some other indirect heat setup to ensure you have an area to get food off the fire. Finally, if you are frugal, you can actually reuse a lot of the wood in your next fire with no reduction in performance. Happy grilling!
