Almost set my house on fire!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Buyer beware!! After 18 months this thing started smoking and sparks began flying out from the right side panel. The warranty expired within a year so no help from GE. I wasn't crazy about the button locations to start with but I dealt with that. However, the fact that we are 1.5 years into this thing and it nearly set my house on fire is unacceptable. Shame on Amazon for allowing this seller to list products on their site.

Good Microwave but BUY THE WARRANTY!!! Only lasts 2-3 years before it dies.
We purchased this exact model of microwave from a Home improvement store over 2 years ago and worked great for us until, just the other day it stopped heating, the light was on, glass plate rotates and timer counts down but that is it. You hear it click to start the microwave process but nothing really heats up. We are replacing it with another since we did not want to purchase a new face plate for our inner cabinet mount. I looked into having it repaired and after a $100 diagnostic fee by a repairman and possibly a $100 part plus labor we decided to just replace it with a new one. No guarantee having it repaired would make it last any longer!Overall this microwave works great but I would highly recommend purchasing a Warranty on this. If you do not based on our experience and after reviewing too many reviews to count this microwave only lasts for 2-3 years MAX! You will not be disappointed having a warranty!! We purchased one when we just bought the replacement!

Microwave runs even when off!
Worked fine for just over a year but now after a timed heating (say 1 minute), the microwave continues to run with no light, no table movement and no more time on the timer. You can hear it running and yes it heats things that are put in there. Dangerous to say the least. It worked fine for a year and a couple months but no more. Our only option is to pull the plug from it so it doesn't run nonstop. This seems more a safety issue than anything else. Unfortunately it's just out of warranty and it was a replacement for another GE microwave itself. No more GE for us. GE anything. What happened to things lasting longer than just beyond the warranty?

The one thing that I do not like about this microwave is the push button to open ...
The one thing that I do not like about this microwave is the push button to open it. Because it is stainless steel, you always have fingerprints on the push button area. There is no way around this. I will definitely choose one with a handle next time. The microwave worked fine for 7 months and then it began to periodically not heat, until finally it just quit heating at all at age 8 months with only 3 people in the household using it. So very disappointing! My previous microwave lasted 15+ years before it became inconsistent with the heating. I can not recommend this product because it broke after just 8 month of use.

good microwave, but timer is worthless
I purchased this microwave to replace a JE2160 which was still working fine but needed replacing because the interior box paint was chipped off from the rollers and it was rusting. For some reason you can't purchase this part of a GE microwave as a part. I've been reasonably pleased with this microwave as a replacement. I especially liked the fact that it fit perfectly with the old trim panel. From other reviews I have learned that this microwave has slightly less power than the 2160, but I haven't really noticed a difference in a few days of using it. The position and function of a few of the controls has changed, but I'm sure I will get used to that if I decide to keep this microwave. So what is the problem. Today I used the timer for the first time. I put a batch of muffins in my normal oven and set the timer for 35 minutes. About 90 minutes later, while passing through the kitchen, I noticed the smell of burning muffins. What could have happened? The display was flashing "press timer". Did I possibly forget to start the timer? No! It turns out that the timer beeps exactly once. If you don't happen to be in the room to hear it, too bad. With my old microwave there were literally hundreds of times where I set the timer to remind me of something and came back into the room or the house to hear it beeping. This timer as implemented is entirely worthless.Update 12/23/2014I've been using this microwave for a couple of months now and find I was wrong about not noticing the reduction in power. I am amazed that 100 watts less power can make such a great difference. One feature of this microwave and its predecessor is the ability to cook for 30 seconds with one button push. I used this feature a lot for scrambling one egg, thawing a sandwich roll, warming a cup of coffee that had sat on the counter for too long. Now, 30 seconds isn't long enough to do any of these. I find that virtually anything I do, I need to add 30 seconds to what I used to use. Another minor thing that annoys me about this microwave is the prominence of the GE logo on the door. This thing is big enough to serve as a hood ornament on my F350 pickup. It no longer comes close to matching my older GE profile appliances. I tried removing it, but it left holes in the door.If this is your first GE microwave, you'll probably like it just fine. If, like me, you are replacing an older JE2160, you'll probably be a little disappointed. I have used and loved GE microwaves for 30 years, but next time I need a new one, I'll at least look at other brands.

finally, we have a microwave again
I bought this online with some trepidation since I had been to our local appliance store twice and they couldn't get a microwave to fit in the area needed. Also, the ones they had were all over $2000. So I bought this one, had it installed, and purchased a custom trim kit from a company in California. For less than half the price they would have charged, I have a nice microwave installed in the area needed. So far, it is working great. I have not had any issues with it but bear in mind that if you are replacing a 16 year old microwave like I was, the new one will be much more powerful. My daughter set the timer for popcorn using the timer instead of the popcorn button, and we had to smell burned popcorn for week. Using the popcorn button works quite well, though. Its big and deep and does what we need.

Good replacement for JE2160
Bought to replace a 10 year old JE2160SF04 with trim kit. The old trim fits the new oven perfectly. The finish is slight different, the old having more of a brushed appearance, however they match well enough, most people don't notice the subtle difference. As for the microwave oven, it works. If it had not been for fitting into the cabinet without modifying the woodwork, I would probably look for a more reliable, better made oven than this GE. It seems to be identical to my old oven except that the control panel layout and logic has been improved.
