Good solder covered nickel
A small amount of wire wound around a flat piece of coated cardboard. Didn't like working with the folds or unfolding from the form factor it's wrapped around, but the solder flowed smoothly.

Just the thing for connecting batteries.
Look on YouTube for a step by step... Roughing up the contacts is not really needed, but liquid flux (non-acid) is and a regulated soldering iron is highly recommended.
