Not as good as I expected
This book takes a lot of its advice from techniques other award-winning mixers have used (including quotes and interviews by them). I am fairly new to mixing, and I was able to learn a lot of tips and tricks, but nothing life-changing.. my mixing process is still pretty similar to what it was before I read the book. One big thing to note is that the book goes into a lot of (in my opinion, superfluous) detail about "the old days" of mixing (techniques that are no longer used by anyone). It also has a lot of detail about mixing on analogue consoles (many people still do it this way but many of us might not care about this content).Furthermore, I noticed quite a few typos and formatting issues. Not that it ruined the book or anything, I just didn't expect this given that this is the 5th edition of the book already. So in conclusion, it's a good book with a lot of information but, in my opinion, not all of that information is useful. And the book could do with a bit of polish. You might prefer Mike Senior's 'Mixing Secrets for the Small Studio'.

So helpful
After reading the Mixing Engineers Handbook, I feel i have a far better understanding. Bobby Owinski has written everything that you need to know, in an easy to understand guide with lots of helpful tips along the way.
